ZR8ED Two Piece Belly pan project

This is EXTREMELY interesting. Would like to do the same and also fab a duct with a smaller opening to the radiator. The desire is to get aero such that my 240Z is stable at higher speeds and also get VERY good cooling of the radiator.

June Bay Area Meet

True to my word, I've organized the meet in full. Please leave a comment and/or donation on my site (below) so I have an idea of who's showing up, and invite as many fun people as you can think of to join us ([single] ladies especially). If there are any questions, concerns, or suggestions, send me an email at drummingpariah 'at' gmail.com. If you don't know how to get to Anza, email me and I'll send you detailed directions and give you my cell number so you'll be sure to make it. Looking forward to seeing you all there!   Here's the link for the official info: http://car.scrapper-site.net/news/berkeley-ca-meetup/   Please, please, please, leave a comment if you're coming, and if you aren't going to bring anything, donate $5 (or whatever you can afford) so I can pick up supplies ahead of time.

Somewhat serious street build

We apparently have blogs over here now. Although I already have one here: http://car.scrapper-site.net (URL subject to change) I'm curious to see how the vBulletin blog system works. Here's post #1!   I purchased an s30, which was supposed to be delivered today but has been postponed due to technical difficulties. It should show up tomorrow, if all goes well.   Basics: 72 240z
l24, bad starter (at least)
stock 5spd
stock r180
stock brakes
flat black (except for rust spots)
a pair of rust issues
bolt-on roll bar
4 flat tires
no seats
broken headlights
stock wiring
no title (no information at all in the DMV database for the past 7 years) Immediate plans (this week): Install this pile of parts:

with different wheels for those tires (you'll see)
Install my new(to me) l28et (anybody have suggestions, threads I should read, or sites I should visit before diving in?)
Inspect the clutch and address the immediate problem of it not engaging
Inspect the brakes and address immediate problems
Inspect suspension and address immediate problems
Change all the fluids everywhere
Bolt down the roll cage
Get a Xenon/BRE front end for it (if you know someone who's selling one, LET ME KNOW!)
Re-route the ignition wiring so I don't have to have a key made. I don't like keys, by and large. I've been thinking about exhaust, and would like some input. Should I do a single side-dump through the driver's side fender or run something all the way back to a motorcycle can or two?   Pics of my $500 project to come as soon as it's here.   (yes, this was in the members projects area, but I forgot other people can't post there)

Blog?

Does anyone care what I might be thinking about right now? Most of the time I don't.

3/18/09 Project 570Z Status

So now I'm working almost every day sanding and filling and trying to get everything to be just right before I paint. The hardest part is getting the body line that starts close to the top and just to the rear of the front wheel arches back to the rear of the car, to be just right. This body line was almost nonexistent on the rear quarter panels, so I essentially have to recreate it. On the doors and front fenders the body wasn’t consistent with shallow dents just below it. I think this will be important to how the overall look of the car once it’s completed, so hopefully it’s worth all the time and effort.

Welcome to ZBlog!

Well I was going to post in a thread I recall starting some time ago with regards to my 260Z build and saw out the corner of my eye that we have blogs! And I thought, "well, what a better way for those who might be interested in me and my build to get to know what I am up to!"   So, I wont drag on tonight too much but I will share some serious frustrations I've been having of late with the Z.   I am sure most all of you can relate to general the general frustrations that rear their ugly head along the road to a built car but this one is just too ironic. In the beginning when I bought this car back in 98 I was working on the road, in a bad relationship, young(er ) and broke. The dream of building this car sat in my brothers drive way for more than a few years while I traveled from one end of Canada to the other trying to make ends meet. A few years later I moved back home with my wife to be (new relationship), bought a house, worked for a while in the Transport industry and then decided to go back to school and become a Machinist. Now today I am working steady, my wife and I have plans to build a house and I have managed to stock pile a little cash to finish the Z to modest results.....And wouldn't you know it but MAN is it hard to get some parts suppliers to cooperate. For WEEKS, more than a month I've been waiting for a Energy Suspension bushing kit to come in....only to be lied to and lied to by the local parts supplier I chose to order through. Of course their price was right, so....like anyone else, I bit. Trouble is, once again they haven't met their own set deadline! It's just been an endless pile of nonsense with this particular dealer
