  1. Cool, I'll sift thru it some more. I guess what it boils down to is really the th350 tranny. Most everyone is using an OD setup of some kind. Still, I'll serch & look more and I'm sure I'll get it figured out lol I'm thinking it will be running around 3K-RPM down the freeway, I'll have to get a GR calculator & check. Hope it don't get TOO bad of fuel mileage hahaha Thanks guys & I'll post up pics as progress comes- John
  2. Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone who has any links or info on old school 350/350 swaps. Ideally I would like to dump and LS motor & 6 speed in my 280 but thats not realistic for my budget so I'm looking at taking the 350/350 combo out of my truck, buying a JTR kit, and swappin it in there. So a few of my questions would be -realistic gas mileage with 3.54:1 rearend & no OD -what is your impression of how it drives day to day, freeway speeds, ect -if anyone has swapped it in without the JTR kit I.E. bought a bit of metal and put it in themselves, info on that -any advice for someone doing the swap -links to pages with cars with this setup so I can check it out I have looked around on here but now-a-days it seems people are steering away from the low-tech way I'm describing... Thanks- John(here is my car as it sits now, picked it up for $550 with a bad engine)
  3. Do you have any pics of those T/A lights installed? I'm trying to imagine them in a Z but I'm drawing a blank lol I'd like to see what it looks like. z-ya: holy crap that orange Z is freekin' sweet!!! -John
  4. I don't have a JTR crossmember, was wanting to find out before I bought one lol I did a little research and it seems the AOD will be a tight fit for sure, but do-able. I may just call JTR and ask, I'm sure they have been asked this before & will likely know. Thanks- John
  5. I am swapping a 5.0HO & AOD out of an '87 Lincoln LSC into my '77 280Z. I need to know if the JTR tranny crossmember will work with the AOD & if so what modifications would I need to make? Also, it seems to me there used to be a list on this site somewhere of all the components that needed to be pulled from the donor car for the EFI ect. Once I get to pulling the engine I will have a short window to be sure to get all I need before the car is squished. Anyone know a link to such a list? Also, I thought this was interesting & worth sharing. I am going to school for welding & one of my classes is blueprint reading. I downloaded & printed a copy of Brian Laines Z8 mount drawings & took them to my instructor to see about having it made. (I know your asking, if your going to school for welding why dont you build it yourself, its complicated but it makes more sense right now to have it built) Well, long story short the instructor ended up putting Brians plans up on the overhead and the class went over it for a good 20-30 minits. It was perfect for illustrating what we were discussing. He zoomed in on the title block and read off who made it, so credit was given. Just thought it was cool. -John
