  1. i just realized that. lol i was looking at that picture, and i was like wait a minute, theres no way the rotors gonna fit with those metal protrusions, so i started pounding on them with a hammer, and it all fits together now =). Thanks for the help!
  2. ok, i still cant get it back on. I tried putting it all together off of the wheel mount and the rotor is still a half millimeter or so too wide to fit between the pads. I looked at the brakes on the other side of the car and noticed the rotors were different, the one im trying to fit on right now is just a hair wider then the other. It fit on before though so i would think it would have to fit again. Anyway im uploading some pics if that helps at all, the orange things are hose washers that im using to hold the two brake pads apart at the moment. The rotor would fit between the pads if it wasnt for those medal things on the side getting in the way.
  3. mmhm, i figured that out last night and tried it. But im still like a half mm away from it being able to fit together. Idk, ill mess around with it some more today, see if i can get anything figured out. Would it be ok to shave a little bit off the brake pad though? If it comes down to that...
  4. hmm...i dont remember seeing any pins. Ill look though and see. Thanks
  5. Yep =), lol i forgot to specify that part. 1981 280zx t-tops non turbo, rear disk brakes. Idk..the piston is fully retracted. The only thing i can think of that might work is to shave off a millimeter or so off one of the brake pads. Is that something that is ok to do? I really dont know what i could be doing wrong, it all fit together before...
  6. lol i was quoting out of the service manual. Umm...when i said yoke i was referring to the thing that bolts onto the frame and hold the piston and brake pads around the rotor. And yes, i pressed the piston all the way back into the caliper. Im uploading the brake service manual in case im still calling the parts the wrong names, im getting it from page BR-8. BR Brake.pdf
  7. This seems real stupid. But I took my brake pads, rotor, and yoke off to fix a clicking noise. And now I can't get them to fit back together. The yoke will bolt back on, and the rotor will bolt in place, but i cant fit the brake pads back in. Any ideas? This is my first time ever taking the brakes apart, so theres a good chance it could just be a mistake I made somewhere...
  8. whoa whoa, what? I just checked out the site and they quoted me for 100 a year =/, hows that even possible? lol is this real car insurance/legal? 100 bucks a year for car insurance would be real sweet...
  9. lol ive always said ive got no reason to stop if i cant get going, might be time to rethink that...
  10. Thanks again for all this help. Alright, so im not gonna have any money till thursday, so ill try the fuel filter and fuel pressure gauge stuff then. But today i was looking over the hoses and noticed that the hose right next to the one that used to have gas in it was really cracked. Is that the vacuum line? could that have anything to do with the car not starting?
  11. hey, thanks for all this help. The previous owner told me a couple things to try, like checking the fuses and doing stuff with the vacuum line. So ill try all that stuff first, then go for the fuel gauge. @roger.svoboda im in walla walla, lol wheres the club at? thatd be pretty sweet, ive got a friend with some z's thatd probably wanna go too.
  12. This might be something that has been answered before, but i am new to this and wasnt able to find any definite answers. I just recently bought a 78 280z and drove it home in fine, working condition. It had a bit of a vibration at low rpm's, but nothing to bad. The next day i tried starting it and it took a couple of tries. The engine would crank but it took a little while for it to actually start going, then it died by the time i got to the end of the driveway. I just figured it didnt like the cold, so i started it up again and drove it around for a bit. Then i parked it at a friends house. And when i tried to get it going again the engine would crank but wouldnt start. I pulled off some of the fuel line hoses to see if it was getting gas, and gas came out for a few seconds, then nothing. I tapped the gas peddle, tried turning the key again, but no more gas came out of the hose. It's a full tank and gas seems to be getting out of the gas tank, through the filter, but no further. I hardly know anything about cars and how to fix them, so any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Should i get a fuel pressure gauge? how would i go about figuring out what the problem is? Ill keep on searching forums, but any help would be great. **I also just filled the tank with gas right after i bought it, so could it be that the gas i got wasnt good?
