  1. Rocky Auto Mirrors

The finish doesn't concern me. The shape, mounting style and especially the turn signal functionality are what interest me. Upon further research, they look like a Spa Technique mirror that maybe someone altered for the turn signal.
  2. Rocky Auto Mirrors

Does anyone know if the mirrors on the Rocky Auto RB30 are custom or available from some retailer online? I can't seem to find any information on these.
  3. I've searched but have been unable to find an absolute answer. Does anyone know if the 16x8 Type R rims will clear the T3 big brake kits? Are spacers needed? I contacted Techno Toy Tuning and a Watanabe importer and they think (but are not sure) a 15MM spacer might work. Is anyone running the full T3 coilover and big brake combo front and rear with 16" Watanabes?
  4. VB/Black Dragon electric hatch solenoid

I've been wondering about this kit too since it's been sitting in my hatch for over a year now. I could not figure out how to get the solenoid to work with the latch.
  5. Engine assembly for dummies

I figure a major cost of having an engine built for you is the labor. If that's true...what are the chances that someone with a small amount of mechanical knowledge combined with the "rebuilding your Datsun Engine" book and the amassed wealth of knowledge here at HybridZ can assemble an engine on their own. I had originally posted in this thread that I would gladly supply food and beer for assistance in this endeavor. When that failed, I thought I might try this route. Really, how hard is it to put a motor together. I figure I'll have my head professionally done and assembled, buy carbs from Ztherapy and have a machine shop clean up the block. Basically all I ll have to do is install the pistons, oil pump, headers, carbs, distributor, and timing chain. Can it be done?
  6. Alternatives to Rebello

Thanks for all the input. The big difference betwen most of you and me is that I do not have the space or experience to build my own engine. I could certainly source all the parts needed to put together a nice engine for les than $2,500. Unfortunately i live in an apartment in LA. There's no garage, no engine stand, no wall of tools. I have to pay for labor on this project and while I realize that you get what you pay for, I'd like to get as much as I can for what my project budget will allow. When I was at the MSA show I spoke with a gentleman from Vincent Foreign car in Covina. He gave me a price of $3,500 to basically rebuild the motor and carbs. I'm also going to contact Slover's in North Hollywood. Last time I spoke with them they mentioned that they had someone that would asseble the engine if I sourced all the parts. If someone in the LA area cares to show/help me build the motor; I'd be more than happy to buy all the parts, pizza, and beer needed to get it done right.
  7. Alternatives to Rebello

The thing is...I don't want to have $12K-$15K into a car that will never be worth more than $8K. Between the purchase price, the body work, and basic suspension and brake upgrades I'll have roughly $6K in the car and II still need a amotor and an interior. I figured $5-6K on a motor and $1.5K for the interior and she should be fine. Maybe I should just have a local builder rebuild an L28 and put some Ztherapy carbs and a good exhaust on it and call it a day. BTW...you wouldn't happen to be the D. Hale of Marina Autocross fame?
  8. Alternatives to Rebello

I'm looking for a new motor for my 20Z. I've spoken with Rebello and would love a 3.1L from them but I don't really want to spend $7K+ on a new motor. Are there any other reputable engine builders out there than can do this for under $6K? Should I just walk around the MSA show with a sign that says "Stroker needed"?
  9. Better headlights

I was quoted $130 for Cibie Housings and $50 for bulbs from Clearcorners.com.
  10. The Z car edition of Automobiles is on the History chanel in 15 minutes.
  11. Looky here at THIS ! Nicely done 3d engine animation

If only that was for an L6, then I'd be able to asseble my own engine. Nice find.
  12. Vintage Air

All us L6 guys really need is a proper compressor and bracket. Everything else should be off the shelf generic parts. I'd love to put a Gen II Mini on my car but I'm stuck without a proper compressor and mounting bracket.
  13. Wolf Creek Racing reputation

I was hoping to hear something like that. I'm trying to find a set of triples and they've got what I need.
  14. Wolf Creek Racing reputation

Has anybody had dealings with Wolf Creek Racing? Are they a reputable company? Any input would be great.
  15. How much is a L28 worth?

If you decide to piece it out...I'll take the head.
