  1. So simple... just give it 10-20 minutes after running at operating temp (usually enough time to drink at least one beer) before changing it. That way IMHO, the oil has drained back to the pan AND it is still warm enough to flow quickly enough to bring out any crud.
  2. Run my 04 Maxima on 87 all the time. The power does drop off a smidge, mostly felt in degradation of midrange responsiveness. Don't get me wrong, the thing still puts out some torque. No spark knock noticeable, except for when I rarely and accidentally lug it a lil bit (6 speed). Gas mileage remains the same if that matters. Cheers and good luck!
  3. At first I thought I wanted to fly F-18's. Everybody is pretty much indoctrinated that you want to fly them during the first part of flight school. Then, after that, you still might or might not. For me I really didn't know what I wanted to fly the most during the second half or so of primary flight school. After I did my aerobatics block jets looked less like THE answer for me. Coming into the program I had a CFII and Multi-engine ratings, so I had a little bit of fixed wing experience. I finally decided that rotor wing was something I wanted to do partially due to the fact that I had never even been in a helicopter in my life. Seemed like fun. So, rotors came my way and I couldn't have made a better choice. It's going to be great. Doing the (ch)air force thing and flying fighters would definitely be cool as hell and I encourage you to try your damnedest for it! Some will say that Navy/Marine jet guys don't get as much combat maneuvering training as the air force because they have to train to do carrier recoveries. However, I think it makes them that much more amazingly skilled since they can do it...
  4. Yeah, that guy IS nuts. Gimme power any day.
  5. Hey, just got my wings today! Going to fly SH-60B's in Jacksonville, FL (NAS Mayport). Just thought I would share it with you. If anyone is in Pensacola tonight we'll be at Flounder's on the beach starting at 9 PM.
  6. My favorite comment from the discussion would be: "oh and I think this video is hillarious, typical day at a CP in Iraq. 7. http://www.qubetv.tv/videos/detail/3483 LOL, just a little bored. I love those guys.
  8. Even if it did work, wouldn't that make your engine very unresponsive?
  9. I saw this posted on the other org I belong to and thought I would ask whose it was. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=552705 Looks really good, except I'm not in love with the hood...
  10. Sure it wasn't a wolf? J/K, but usually they top out about the same weight as your dog. I grew up around coyotes and never saw or heard of one killing a dog that was around their same size. Cats, possums, cute little dogs, etc...yes. They can be aggressive if they are hungry enough, but my experience is that they are mostly scavengers. They scare deer pretty well, too, but what doesn't? I'd say keep an eye and ear out for roving packs of coyotes. If you don't notice them hanging around your house all of the time your dog isn't very interesting to them and you have nothing to really worry about.
  11. Yeah, a good set of new snow tires are all you'll need. The non-studded perform almost as well as the studded ones anymore. Oh, and +1 on the sandbag in the back!
  12. Are you really sure you want to run leaded gas in your car that is not designed for it? If yes, then do it!
  13. My family! I'm Pat, wife is Jamie. Wimpy dog is Nemo and the demonic cat is Anzhelika. http://www.elfyourself.com/?id=9612269044
  14. Well, obviously the I/E are different and that makes a difference. As for cams, they're a little less radical for the fwd applications, but other than that the internals are identical.
