  1. as soon as the snow melts I'm bring it back to the land of the living. I'll post pics of my progress as soon as I make some. Ive got a few tricks in mind and a chevy 388 on the engine stand.
  2. the 5.3 will bolt up to the t56, it is the same block as the 6.0 that is in the vette. I just goot done doing the swap on my truck. if you look for the 5.3 that was out of the SSR or the suv's they have the alluminum heads and block. they are the easyest motors to work on Parts are cheap, and in a small z they will get good mpg.
  3. If your still looking for a powdercoater there is one in madison and I used one by port washington.
  4. I put Eibach spring with tokico struts, st swaybars and poly bushings. my 79 has never handled better when I autocross but on the steet its pritty stiff. alot of it is the 14" wheels but Ive broken two front swaybar brackets. this year Ill have 17s and the 383 so Ill see if it rides better. if you go with the stiff springs invest in some nice cushy seats or be ready for the piledriver!
  5. if you try to press out your 20 year old bushings your going to have a very bad day. the easyest way to get them out is to use a small tourch to melt the rubber (very stinky toxic fumes so wear a mask) take a chisel and tap out the outer sleeve. you can even use a jigsaw with the right blade to cut through the sleeve to help loosen it up. takes about 15 minutes.
  6. what kind of foam did you use for the major part of the structure?
  7. dude it keeps gettin better every time. thats awsome
  8. I don't think they will work, unless your really short. the base of the seats comes fron the factory with mounting legs. they sit pritty high. I put a pair in a friends jeep last fall and they feel great. if your creative you might be able to get them to work. good luck
  9. are you positive its a 383, I took the 383 out of my friends chevelle after he wraped it around a tree. when the motor was in his chevy it was a rocket. in a lighter z this things gonna scream! if its a 383 you'll know. a local speed shop should be able to help you, good luck
  10. Im really thinkin about adding paddle shifter this summer, I saw it on pro touring web sight. the companys name is twist machine and it works with almost any computer controled trany. lucky for me I upgraded my trucks trany to a 4l80e, so I have a home for my old 4l60e. http://www.twistmachine.com/
  11. if the brush on stuff sits in the can on the shelf for to long it doesn't work as well. when I stripped my cycle tank I started with an old can of the mar-hyde and it didn't do much, then I bought a new can and it worked much better.
  12. dude you gotta quit doin this to me. every time I see the vid my mind starts thinkin all kinds of crazy things. I was just plannin on doing a conservative swap but if you keep it up I may just to do something drastic!! all kidding aside thats awsome. I was just planning on doing the propane/nitrous on my 383, but after seein your vids I dont think Im gonna be happy without the turbo.
  13. that was freekin awsome!!!!! do ya have any details on the motor?
  14. I used a torch to burn out the rubber, and a chisel to pound out the sleeve. its not that hard to do just alittle smelly.
