  1. I'm having the bad dog frame rails installed and have a 4 point rool cage already on the car. I was just wondering if that would be enough to withstand the 600ft/lb of torque or if I needed a torque tube. This car is being built for shows and street driving, it will never see a track. Therefore it will never see any high rpm clutch dumps.
  2. Has anyone used the factory 280Z fuel gauge with an aftermarket sender? If so please share your experience.
  3. Thanks for all your input guys. I guess I'm just used to buying headers that come with the best collectors available and there is no option to improve them that's why I was confused, I'm sure that's why they cost me $1600 for a pair. I will take a set of these headers with the high speed collectors and v band as well. It will still be cheaper than my C6 Z06 LG Motorsport long tubes.
  4. Thanks but I'm still not clear on what's the difference between the collector the headers come with vs. the high speed collectors. All LS longtube headers come with 4 into 1 collectors and from what I have seem from the LS longtube headers I have purchased in the past they come sized and designed for optimum power not with optional parts to make them perform better. Is the high speed collector better engineered than the one that is provided? Please don't take my comments the wrong way. I'm just trying to understand why a high speed collector is offered as an option.
  5. Put me down for a set. What's the difference in the regular collectors the header come with vs. the high speed collectors offered as an option? Cable, I had originally told you I wanted a set of your headers but if you are stepping down I'm going with one of these. If not I will go with yours since I commited to you first.
  6. Got the bracket, great piece. thanks a lot. This will save me a lot of work and make the engine bay look cleaner. Did you have a chance to measure your throtle cable?
  7. Sunny Z What are you guys doing for the A/C vacumm tank and magnet valves? I see a lot of you are getting rid of it.
  8. Is it correct to assume that going from the 8 1/2" to the 10" booster you will have more ppower assist?
  9. I just sent you a paypal payment for the bracket. I see 2 sizes cables for LS1 a 36 inch and 48 inch long, which one did you use?
  10. Is the price still the same? Also do you have a part number of the throtle cable you used with this braket?
  11. Do you still have these brackets for sale?
  12. I read something similar that's why I was asking if anyone had used this set up and what their experience is. It looks reaaly nice but if it does not work well it's worthless. Like they say looks are not everything, oh wait I think normally ugly people say that.
  13. I'm curious of why you feel the expansion tank is needed for an LS motor's fuel system? I see a lot of sports cars that do not have expansion tanks and do not have fuel delivery issues. The reason I'm asking is that I would like to have a custom fuel tank made and would like to get rid of as many hoses as posible without creating any problems. From what I have been told by fuel tank builders in that the expansion tank was put in place due to emissions only.
  14. cable, Let me know when you have the first set made and how they fit as well as what size primaries you decide to use. I'm ok with the $1000 price tag as long as they are stainless and there is no hacking up the car to make them fit.
  15. Has anyone used this set up on the LS conversion yet?
  16. Does JCI sell the torque tube set up? I'm looking to install a 605hp LS motor in my 1978 280Z. I have a 4 point roll cage already but I have been told that I need a torque tube or some sort of frame rail upgrades.
  17. I have seen that thread for the tank build. It is a very nice set up, unfortunately you can't run dual exhaust with that tank and you can't use the factory sending unit. I will have Boyd Welding build what I'm looking for if I don't find an alternative. They do great work and are easy to work with as long as you are not out to waste their time and are serious about what you want. You will not be disapointed with their work.
  18. You know that's not a bad idea. I was thinking about sending my original gas tank to a fuel tank builder and have them make one out of aluminumm without some of the tall side of the tank located on the passenger's side (to make room for the dual exhaust) but make the rest of it bigger (I would have to cut out the spare tire well)to compensate for the volume we just lost. Then measure where the factory sending unit was mounted and make a mounting spot at the same height as on the 280Z tank. They could add external brackets as part of the tank to mount my Aeromotive pump, pre pump filter, regulator, etc. I have seem custom aluminum tanks cost in the neighboorhood of $800. But my main thing is to retain all the 280Z components, besides the stroked LS2....LOL I just wanted to check in this forum to see if anyone had done something similar before I started on this.
  19. Thanks Cable, I did find that thread yesterday but it's not what I'm looking for. I'm looking to see if anyone is using a fuel cell or a custom made tank that will allow dual exhaust and the use of the factory Datsun sending unit and fuel gauge. My gauges are in great condition, I see most guys on the forums go with the fatermarket gauges and I'm all about doing something different, not to mention I like the look of the stock gauges. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  20. I have been looking on this forum for days now and I can't seem to find anything on this topic. I would like to run a dual exhaust on my LS conversion, therefore I know I need to get rid of the factory fuel tank in order to make this work. Has anyone used a fuel cell or had a custom fuel tank made in which the factory sending unit and gauge can be used?
  21. Did you get an answer to your question? I'm interested in this tank for a 280Z but I would like to retain all factory components. Why try to redesign the wheel just to have a different gauge.
