  1. Hey Guys, me again. As this point is still open I would like to ask again, what kind of paint I can use to paint above the original Enamel paint. In germany we call the original paint "thermo paint" and the paint systems we use here are not working on enamel. Till one year there comes out cracks as the paints doesn't work together. So just to be shure I would like to ask you guys if I buy the so called Restoration Enamail Paint Kit, can I put this without problems on the original paint of a 240-280z? Thanks.
  2. Hi and thanks for your answer. And the 2 Stage Urethane makes no Problems on the old original Paint? Is 2 Stage Urethane also a "Thermophene Paint" / TPA? I would like to buy Thermophene Paint as I heared few times that it is more easy to use for a "garage painting" Does this fits also for the 2-Stage you speak from? I found this on Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gunmetal-Grey-Metallic-Prem-Gallon-Kit-Low-VOC-URETHANE-BASECOAT-Auto-Paint-Kit-/390538583069?pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&vxp=mtr&hash=item5aede9dc1d That should be what you suggested to me. There is also a "quart kit" available. How much paint is needed for a full painting of a Z and does somebodyhas a suggestion for me what needlesize would work with this paint? Sorry for maybe stupid questions
  3. Hey Guys, Just a short question as I remind in my Head a Sticker in the Engine Bay what said something from an Enamel Color (Competition Orange) If I would like to repaint a Z, what works better as a single Stage Paint, Acrylic Enamel or Acrylic Urethane Paint? My hope was just to grind/machine the original paint all around a bit, paint the car and polish the paint for a clean and glossy look. Any suggestions what to use and maybe a nice Webshop or Shop in Orange County?
  4. Bump, still looking for Cars. Come on Guys, what do you have below the Dust in the Garage? Not modified, running, not too rusty, send Pics and offers to joe@240z.de
  5. Hey Guys, I am the crazy Guy who bought already a 240z in 2011 short before the MSA Event, but as the Time shows sometimes everything goes different as expected I had to sell it last year. So here I am again looking for a 240Z or 280Z in original condition. Original in my eyes means bought 197x no real accidents and if possible original Paint, running and drivable with no heavy mods. So the car should be without Motorswaps, no Racestuff like Cages or Raceseats or other big modifications. The car should be in a renovation worth condition, I don't look for a "nice and ready car" My wish is to get a car what makes sense to renovate, as it is more cheap to import and I need a excuse for my wife to go into my workshop I am a serious (but crazy) Guy and think JohnC or TonyD can confirm this as they know me personally. I am in the moment not shure when I come again to the states exactly, but at least I will be there at the MSA Event last Week of April. But if this doesn't fit for the Company I work for, I will come somewhen in March maybe mid of March. So guys if you have a Z for sale who fits my search, let me know and ahoot me a mail with pictures and your asking Price. I will answer any Offer a.s.a.p. Everything else we can clear directly. If you send me also your Phonenumber, please tell me best time to call but remember that I am nine hours further Please send what you have to: joe monkeysign 240z.de And now, let me see what I could get!
  6. Hey, My "problem" should be the master cylinder or just the fluid tanks ontop of the master cylinder. Until the winter something is frozen (I guess there was water in the break fluid Tanks), and the brake fluid came out and runs down the inner fender/frame... I have to check if just the Tanks are broken, or if the seals are also damaged.
  7. Hi Guys, it seems that my brake master is gone, at least the fluid chamber is broken until the winter. So now I am looking for a new one, and have seen that there are different ones for sale depending on the year the car is build. Do I have to take the one for a 1970 240Z or can I use also one for the older 240Z models what are of course much more expensive... Thanks for a short information!
  8. Hey Tony Great to read from you and great hint! As I am very limited with working space in my garage, this would be the best kind to work at my Babe. Just before 5 minutes I had it run again with new sparks and distributer Finger/Cap, nice feeling. First moment it smokes heavy, but after a short while it run good again. (OT) As it seems it could be difficult for me, to come over this year to the MSA Show, end of march my second child will come, and my "hobby budget" is very low currently Are you at home that time Tony?(OT off) Edit, can't find the picture you speak from, tooooooo much pictures on FB!
  9. Hi Jon, Thanks for your Comment. The Fluids I had in my Head, but mostly i thought on gaz, I forgot the rest completly... The Brake fluid I havo to get out in any Case, there is something broken in the last weeks, where we had very low temperatures. I came into the Garage, and both reservoires was half empty, and the fluid was on the bottom Unfortunately I cant see really where it comes from, the brake booster and the man brake cylinder was completely wet all around, and of course, the nice fluid run down the whole frame in this area.... I cleaned up everything, but I can't see what is broken. Ok, Diff, Trans and Brake I can empty, it is old and has to be changed in any Case. But my wish would be to let the drivetrain in place, but also I am not shure if the mounts are strong enough.... The lift and rotating I would realize with hydraulik, so I think this should be the smaller Problem. The Brakets I make exact for this mounting points, so they will be in the middle for more easy spin.
  10. Well, thats a point I havent thought about... But I have a Wife what I could ask to carry out the stuff... Without kidding, yes it would be nice to lift up the whole car, but without tires. Just four bolts at the back... With 12.9 it should work, but how is the rest of the frame? Thanks for the google link, good to see that it works basically with the body.
  11. Hi to the nice side of the world. I am currently thinking about the best possibility to work on my Z, and my wish would be to use something like the "Carlifter" you can see here: http://www.sternzeit-107.de/downloads/Kippwagenheber.pdf (sorry, only german language ) But the picture speaks for themself I guess. Now my question is, if the mounts of the 70' 240Z are heavy enough for this kind of jack? Did someone has experience with a system like this? As my garage is not as huge, i have problems to realize other systems to lift up the body. Also I hyve to work a lot on the bottomside of the car, it would really be nice to lift the Z in this way. What do you think, could I trust the bumper mounting points? Thanks for your comments!

  13. Hey Guys, Curently I feel more and more good to be a new Z owner: http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/98862-hello-from-germany-said-an-infected-z-fan/page__view__findpost__p__927325__fromsearch__1 But As this nice ride is an automatic, I would like to swap in a 5speed. Now John told me to take care As there are differences between the pedalboxes and Brakeboosters, I am Not White for what to Look. My famous wish would Be to get a cheap partscar to take everything apart I need or could need in the future. It would Be great if I can get a 260/280 with a 5speed, where I could use not only gearbox and pedalbox, But also glasses around, fenders, Doors and Interieur Parts. Are there Zs fitting my wish, or should I buy the parts, As I Need them? To have more Parts on Hand would Be of course Reals attractive to me. Thanks for any Information in this, and please remember, I am a stupid Z newbie from Europe, so I Need Basics Joe
  14. Now I am here in California, where are the nice Zs what I've seen the last month? All gone? Let me get your offers, have Cash in my Pocket. Loocking in La and about 300mls for a drivable z. Budget is a question of Condition.... Come on guys, let it go NOW. Joe 323 313 4529
  15. forgot to mention, my budget is max. 3000,- but therefore it should be not as much rust of course
  16. Hi Guys, In three Days I put my Feets the First Time on US ground, but still has no 240z in sight to buy. I will stay in orange or somewhere in this Area, and I am looking in a distance from about 300 mls. If somebody knows a nice Z what fits to my Request above in that Region, please let me know. Craiglist I View few times per Day, but the most owners don't like to answer a German guy I think.... Thanks for any help. Joe
  17. One additional Question I have, surfed through the MSA Stora, because the Kö*** rewinds in 16x7 are also nice (I don't like the 8-lug design from the XXRs) and they wrote that 215/50/16 is the maximum size for these rims?! I would like to order 225/50, did I get any problems with this size an a styndard (Tokico or Eibach) Suspension??
  18. Found this Rota on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1-ROTA-RB-16X7-4X114-3-ET10-73-1-GUN-METAL-RIMS-WHEELS-/110658824331?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19c3c7a88b in 16/7 ET4, ET10 and ET22 available. Would like to run 225/50/16 all around. Wich ET is better to use? Thanks!
  19. Hey Guys, it's so great here!!! Thanks thanks thanks for all the comments, and JohnC, that was the offer I was waiting for as I would like to order some rims and tires before I come to the states in three weeks, put them on the car as "antitheft" until shipping, and put the original ones into the car or container. As I see your Webpage, do you have possibilitys to mount the tires on the rims, or should I go to a local garage? About the suspension, I was thinking on Eibach Springs and some shocks. Maybe later some Springovers but currently more the stock way. What Shock do you recommend for the Eibachs, or do you suggest other springs? Would like to have it on the front a bit deeper as on the back. Thanks and best regards fron an really amazed Joe
  20. Doublepost... Btw. does somebody know an tireshop in SoCal with an onlineshop WITH prices? Searched the web, but can only finde some with "ask for best price"... just want to have an pricefeeling on the tires. Thinking currently in 15/8 w 225/50 or 16/8 with 225/45 on the rear, but on the front... 215?
  21. Hey Guys, thanks for your comments! @Montezuma, do you have pictures from your combination on the Z? @JohnC, good hint about the suspension and Tirediameter. Your Z with 15" looks great, wich rims/wheels do you have on that picture on the front? I like the style with ZGs, but I think as "first step" in my Z life, I would like to go without them. This was the reason for my opening post, for a combination what mekes sense with and without ZGs. But I think, I will take 15 or 15 inch, with 225 on the back, and XXX on the front. Do you use 215/XX or 205/XX? On 16" I suggest 225/45/? Thanks Joe
  22. Hey Frank, thanks for your comment, great to read your words, and well, I think we have to speak! That only few people who I write to in advance not answer as you say I realize sinca a time. That was my reason to ask for help in the forums all around. But more and more few people here wrote me and say the same as you, there will be Zs for me. Already I hear your name in combination with importing Zs, and yes it would be a pleasure to me, discuss some possibilitys and get tipps from you for my first USA Travel Send you an mail with "import related" questions, thanks! Joe
  23. Hi together, just a short question to Seat upholstery DIY sets. My hope was to do it in tan color, as I see some nice Zs with the tan colored seats. Now I checked MSA and Blackdragon, but can't find tan upholstery for pre 74 240Z Was this only original available, as I found tan carpet sets for... Thanks for any help, like tan Joe
  24. Hi Miles, thanks for your answer. I have to apologize, I really haven't seen that there is an extra "Interieur Section". Also I found there a great thread about the carpets, think you are involved too It's sometime hard for me to find the right words to look for, as I have of course everything to translate in my had, and as few friends of my say, my had is a bit special sometimes.... Nevertheless I promise to improve my english and knowledge about the special slang words I can read as often, and where I can't find a translation for. Regards Joe
