  1. Hi yer i thought of the ford 4l dohc turbo they make some realy cool hp their is a gguy over here putting one his 240 with i think the 6 speed auto for those who havent drive the zf 6 speed their awesome but they run into the problem of the motor being quite tall and i don't want the bonet to be modified if i can help it. the reason i thought of the valiant is my mate used to be right into them and has the gear to turn a normal 265 into a upgraded 6 pack and being that the lean over it should be easer to fit under the bonnet and if i use the base 265 their hp is similar to the l motor so getting it road legal should be much easer up here in qld.
  2. Hi I sold my z a while ago because i was forced to but have always wanted another one i planed on the ls1 conversion but i had suggested to me today that i use a 265 valliant motor. With the right modifications they can have some real go while still being a inline 6cyl the only real problem i can think of is that it might be to tall ie wont fit under the bonnet what does everyone think
  3. Hi Do you have a test light? If you do i would hook up a wire from the positive of the battery via the test light to the light terminal on the alternator with the motor running and see what it does. This should light the test light up until the motor is running then go out
  4. Hi i used the 93 commodore motor witch i believe is the series 2 with the top radiator hose at the front of the motor, was running the turbo 700 gearbox, standard ecu which was pretty easy to install are you guys interested in pics?? i don't have many tho
  5. I used to have the NA 3800 in my 260z 2+2 no one realized it had the v6 until it was to late they all assumed it was a "crappy old datsun" Holden here make a sc version of the "ecotec" v6. I would of liked to swap that into the z. But i think it would have clearance problems with the bonnet given that the fan off the alternator (on the NA version) chopped through the bonnet lineing and the sc version if alot higher motor.
  6. i agree with all said above except i think the na motors have more power ba - 182fwkw's bf - 190 fwkw's fg - 195fwkw's if any one is interested im willing to help people out with parts from aus if they need them
  7. hi I know they are a double over head cam and the bf -fg's have variable cam timing the heads apparently flow extremely well because their "cnc ported from the factory"?? i know a fella with the bf version and with new plenum, intercooler, intercooler piping , relocated filter, exhaust , fuel pump, injectors and tune his car does constant low 11 sec 1/4 mile passes in a 2000kg body
  8. ford have brought out the new fg f6 Typhoon now witch is a 310kw from the factory and a 270kw version for the fg xr6t. the fg f6 has been proven to make over 350rwkw's with just a k & n panel filter, exhaust and a edit link to new fg range http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/MiniSite/MiniSiteArticleDetail.aspx?ArticleID=52523&vf=28&MiniSiteID=8
  9. Hi can you give me a little more info about why you bridged the voltage meter ... the warning light needs to go from ignition through a bulb like a 5w or something to the warning light output on the alternator thanks
  10. Hi whats happning here is you should have a main battery positive that you have got hooked up but have you hooked up the warning light this bring the alternator onto chargeing alot quicker other wise it needs alot of revs to self excite as they call it so is the warning light hooked up?? thanks
  11. Hi first off if you battery terminal is "sizzling" then it's got a very bad connection that would be my first port of call make sure both terminals are clean and not able to be twisted on the post of the battery by hand. the click with the starter every now and then will be a few things connection between starter, the starter it's self of the ignition barrel not providing enough amps to trigger the starter motor. thanks
  12. Hi first thing i would look at is check all the fuses and fusible links check the plugs and earths for the headlights. Have you checked the switches for the doors they can play up with bad contacts etc
  13. Hi I am not trying to drag this on. But i went into the local Nissan dealer today to check the engine number and vin number. Seems its not on their system so they have told me with reasonably high certainty that the car is imported. this is where i am lost. I have a 79 so its one of the early ones with a f54 block and a p90 head and 3speed auto. did this combination ever come out of a factory like this? Also can you tell if the pistons are dished or flat top by taking the plugs out? Thanks Any help much apreciated
  14. Hi Yes i would really like it to be but it's a 1979 and ive been told Nissan never sold turbo 280zxt's in Australia also it's not turbo.... this could explain why it's running rich consistently because of the na computer and the turbo injectors Thanks Philfree
