  1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxO3Cgx17Uk It's a budget build with parts from 72, 73, 78, and 83 Z's I was originally going to put a Chevy V8 in it. When I was putting the car together, I got a LOT of help searching this site. My friend (driving) has a 71 that he is putting a Chevy LS engine it. I've been planning on posting pictures of it here, but he says he wants it to be a surprise .
  2. I keep looking at this hoping that these become available at a reasonable price. They are so reminiscent of the E-type Jaguar. For some reason every time I look at this topic I think I need to find a new fishing partner.

  4. The disk is just a round piece of rubber that is used like a spacer. I took the booster off and shook it and could tell it was inside. Once I got it out I glued it in place before I put it all back together. There is a cutaway view in the FSM that references it, but it is easy to miss.
  5. I had a similar problem after redoing the whole brake system on a 240. My issue turned out to be the reaction disk had come off inside the brake booster.
  6. That's a good idea to wire in an inertial switch. Thanks Tony. Next time i'm at the local pick and pull i'm going to get one. I have noticed some of the same wiring diagram issues. My car has wiring from 72/ 73 an some auto/manual harnesses. So far ive been able to locate answers to any questions by lurking about here. You have it right about the fuel system. You won't find wiring diagrams in the FSM for it. The '1973 240Z 1974 260z Fuel System Service Modification Plus' service mod added the electric fuel pump. The modification also added a couple of relays, and a harness in the engine compartment and a harness under the dash. The harness in the engine compartment adds a wire to the starter solenoid connection, and the yellow(?) wire from the voltage regulator (That's the most kluged one. I threw one in the trash before I knew what it was). The harness under the dash picks up the green wire from the fuel pump circuit and goes to the relays.   7. From what you've described, You have enough experience bleeding brakes to know if you've bled them enough and something else is the issue here. The next thing I'd check is that reaction disk mentioned in earlier posts. It more than likely fell inside the booster when you took your MC off. Without it you aren't pushing the piston in the master cylinder very far in when you step on the brake.

  9. I just took some measurements on the one that I have. 12 inches tall 18 inches wide 35 inches long I'll try to post some pictures of the tank with the tape measure.

  11. Sounds to me like a good plan to use the carter pump alone. NewZed is right about the in line fuse. (240Z's had provisions in the original harness for an electric pump, but they weren't used). If your car did have the mod (most all did), as a temporary solution you might be able to bypass it: Follow the green wire from the in line fuse, there is a T- connector with one green wire and one black with white stripe. Verify that this is the harness that goes to the relays that are on the right side of the passenger floor. You can remove the harness that goes to the relays and reconnect the wiring connection to the fuse holder the way the car was originally. If this works for you, keep in mind that your fuel pump will be on whenever the key is in the ON position- not ideal or safe.
  12. MOST 240 cars are mechanical pump cars. The 1973 240Z 1974 260z Fuel System Service Modification Plus service mod added the fuel pump to help with vapor lock issues. These cars run both a mechanical and an electric fuel pump. The modification also added a couple of relays, and a harness in the engine compartment and a harness under the dash. The harness in the engine compartment adds a wire to the starter solenoid connection, and the yellow(?) wire from the voltage regulator. Assuming that your car had this mod, Yes, there is a relay in the system, and You shouldn't get any voltage to the fuel pump unless the car is either cranking or running.
