  2. I'm pulling a VG30ET out of my Z. The plumbing is a nightmare-ish web of rubber hoses. ECU and upper intake are gone (sold) but if you need any bits let me know...

  6. Happy new year friends! I need a little brainstorm assistance any ideas are welcome. Have been tinkering with a 2002 Mercury Cougar with a 2.5L V6 and automatic. 120K miles. Same driveline as a Ford Contour, Mondeo, Probe, Mazda 626. 2 weeks ago It was running fine when stopped for about 10 minutes at the store. Went to start it and the starter just makes a clicking sound. Towed it home. battery is fully charged = 12.4V so, we figured it was the started and/or bendix. Bolted on a new (reman) starter and cleaned every battery cable and ground connection. still just clicks. Visually noted: The car rolls free in neutral. Externally the engine pullies rotate about 2-4 degrees as soon as the starter is engaged. Pulled out all 6 spark plugs and try to rotate engine by the crankshaft with a socket and 18" breaker bar, will not turn by hand from the front. Tried to turn the flexplate gear by hand through the starter hole in the bellhousing, will not turn by hand from the back. Pulled the valve covers off to see if a timing chain is broken, everything looks fine and tight in there. next thing I'll slip the serpentine belt off and check if the AC compressor is stuck, since the defrost was on when it was last driven. Wondering if the torque converter might be locked "ON"? Any ideas welcome.
  7. Sometimes T5 is typed T-5, sometimes referred to as Borg/Warner, B&W, Tremec.......
  8. short nose gear set won't work in a long nose diff housing.
  9. 300ZX hubs give you a 5x4.5" bolt circle. Search: Camaro hubs for 5x4.75".
  10. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=181176341920#description Observations, no criticism. There is some MEAT in those frame rails. Is that a chain strapping down the longnose diff? Rustic looking accellerator linkage. I didn't think cars would rust in Nevada.... Permanent tow bar mount.
  11. After 4X you will no longer be a rookie, so start thinking up a new excuse. (Mine's old age....)

  13. After a long search, I found my copy of the Pucket 250 Spyder Assembly Manual. Here is a scan of the sections specific to the body mods and and frame stretch. http://forums.hybridz.org/files/file/29-puckett-250-spyder-assembly-manual/ I have left out the sections about diss-assembling the front end, suspension, and fuel system. They were just copies from the Chilton's manual.

Selected sections from the 250 Spyder Assembly Manual provided by Puckett Design.
  15. Not the 90's Camaro 2.8L V6....those bellhousings have a FWD block and bellhousing bolt pattern. The link earlier to the 2004 thread references the 80's Jeep bellhousing that will mate your transmission to a Chevy V8 block. There are a couple on eBay now selling at $25. Makes me debate a junkyard crawl versus the mailman bringing it right to my door. Good Luck!
  16. http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/24826-mustang-t5-to-chevy/ Mid-Late '90s Camaro V6 T-% used a "Ford" style transmission case bolt pattern.
  17. Wrap a nylon ratchet strap around the tire at the center of the tread and tighten. Squeezing the center in will force the sidewalls and beads uniformly outwards against the rim.
  18. While I'm at it syndrome: Now polish the sink to match....
  19. Bought a HUGE tap - M52 x 1.5 so I can section and re-thread the strut tubes on my lathe.... without welding.
  20. Saw you in a red 240Z southbound Cave Creek Rd & Tatum area....
  21. Are you using the stock 300ZX radiator?
  22. I remember an article about a failed restoration on a Jensen Interceptor saying "....the body was apparently built of recycled tuna cans and wet newspaper..."
