  1. i like the look of the s30 open mouth without the bumper on there. with just a kit. kind of like the member aziza on here. so what im in the process of doing is i cut out the middle section of the msa body kit even with the hood all the way down. then you fill in the turn signal holes with fiberglass resin and some bondo and wam big mouth bumper on an s130. oh ya and you will have to be creative when it comes to making new turn signal lights... i still have to figure that out myself. if wanted i will take pictures of the work ive done so far. and also you will need to make a support for the middle of the body kit if you remove the front bumper like i did.
  2. its good they got it running. i was going to suggest the same thing that roger said. the battery being slightly loose could cause the one pop and no start thing. as far as cleaning the grounds go just get some electric parts cleaner and a wire brush spray a little on the contact surface and the contact itself and clean it a little. with the cig lighter thing u might wanna check the fuse for that also. if the fuse is a little loose or the wrong resistance it could possibly cause that. if all else fails we will just say there were 85 different police officers with different radars all around you
  3. i did. i took the entire front cover off and redid everything in their. i had to go to the junkyar to get the spacer from the front cover to the dizzy today and should be firing her up in a little. if not then i will fire her up tomorrow
  4. so guys if you have noticed i was having a problem with the car stumbling all of the time. well i think i have fixed the problem. i was rebuilding the front cover stuff including the timing chain tensioner. well the last time i took my head off i put the piston even with the block... well this time around while i was playing around rotating the block i noticed my pistons go about 1/4 of an inch above the block. as far as i have seen thats not normal... so what im in the process of doing now is trying to figure out what the previous owner did. do you guys think it is after market pistons or rods? there is no markings on the pistons except the little box that faces the front of the block on each pistons. the little notches. as far as i know none of the other z's had higher compression pistons then the 280zx did. any ideas on what was changed. i would have put pics up but the head is back on the car already. the next time i take it off i will show u guys pics.
  5. ya so i bent my timing chain tensioner spring. my question is is it possible to bend it back and it work properly. only one coil is bent. and if it isnt possible is there anyone in the central texas area with a spare one laying around or even a place where i can get one.
  6. well the things i need if your willing to sell are megasquirt. the head gasket, maybe the intercooler piping. if your willing to go even higher with that stuff then i would like to get even the head or if u have it a fuel rail. just anything performance. also i have an s30 after market front bumper i am trying to sell/trade. i have a pick in the for sale area but it is in the hybridz cars section. i also have a garret twin scroll t4 im selling. make an offer on anything u are willing to sale. or if u sale the entire l28et i might get that from u

  8. wel my car was sputtering at about 4500rpm during wot. so i decided i would open the engine up and see what was wrong. well i got the head off and only one cylinder looked good. the other cylinders all were white valves and plugs. so is this because im running rich, lean, to hot, to cold and how can i fix this. a few specs on my car is that it is an l28. with dual s.u. carbs a full exhaust with no cat. an msd coil, ngk plugs and wires. i am also about to boost my car with f.i.
  9. if you are confident with yourself doing body work you can do what i am doing. i also like the wide mouth early z front airdams. so what i did was got the msa body kit. took my bumper supports out and chopped the top section out of the body kit. this allows me to bolt the bumper on. but still have a large front opening. the only thing that is tough about it is the turn signal holes are right where you cut. so you can fill those and cover them. then find a different location for the blinkers.
  10. well to help answer your question. i have dual s.u.'s on a l28 on my s130. and i have a felpro 4 psi fuel pump. mine isnt loud or anything. but ya. with your setup it all depends on what your engine build is. if you have stock internals then you dont need tons of fuel. but if you have or want to have a higher compression then i think this fuel pump would be a nice one to have. holley has a really similar setup that my brother has on his camaro.
  11. okay thats cool. if you only part with some of your f.i. stuff i would be interested in the stuff you dont get rid of
  12. i have dual su's along with headers, and an n42 head if your willing to swap i can throw some cash in as well. if your going with a non turbo setup is it possible you would part with your headgasket. i have a set of msa headers, and dual s.u's with a bunch of extra parts. also i have the fuel pump u will need for this. if you want i can throw in my custom exhaust which is just straight pipe no cat ran in the factory location 2.5"
  13. another question i was wandering. ive read alot about doing a sbc swap but when this deal popped up i jumped. so my question is with the automatic tranny what will i be looking for with driveshafts. is there one that will fit and is there one that will hold good power. also how does the weight of the engine and tranny compare to a 280zx non tubo standard tranny?
  14. ya i am from texas. he got the car from a guy in vegas who had a porsce caymen s and a nsx in the garage. so in other words the guy has tons of cash. im getting everything except engine mounts. and drive shaft. if i find him a 6 speed 2jz tranny and get it for him ill get all the stuff for free. so the japanese motors have speed limiters on them also? also i have no clue what automagic is can you elaborate for me. the owner said i can run up to 12 psi with out changing to a 3 bar map sensor and 16 on the stock internals. does this sound about right
  15. hey guys i havent yet gotten the motor and tranny and all the goodies. but listen to this deal i have a friend who has a supra and recently decuded to put a motor in that could handle 4 digit hp. well i was talking to him today and he said hes going to sell his motor. i instantly got interested. i asked him how much and he said 5. i was like 5g? he said no 500. i was like ill buy it. without hesitation. so he was like really? i told him my plans to put it in my s130. he was like cool cool. so here is what im getting. it is a jdm 2jz with automatic tranny, ecu and wiring harness. the motor has less then 60,000 miles so im going to still take it apart and do a little building. so do you guys have any suggestions? i have read about the na-t and ive read every forum in the toyota sub-section. so i have done a little research. one question i have is should i get rid of the steering box or will the intake be high enough to not hit it.
