  1. About to order a Llamar CTX 40% pre cut window tint kit. The place I'm ordering only has templates for a 77 280. Will this work for my 73 240z door glass? My research shows the fron, rear, and 1/4 glass is the same. 70-76 door glass is the same. 70-78 the doors were changed in favor of more crash protection, different latch locations, etc. The glass is specd as different for the 77-78, but in pictures looks the "same". Will my pre cut 1977 door tint fit my 70-76? Thanks for any input guys.
  2. I did search but I was more looking for say a shop that I could send mine to have overhauled, maybe a smaller shop with someone I could talk to, etc. Rack I have is not in bad shape, it's just torn apart and I am trying to farm some work out to get this restoration moving faster. I will most likely just put it back together myself here soon.
  3. Well I am trying to find 4 solid u joints for my rear axles. For a 73 240z but I am unsure if they are 240 axles. The car has a R200 dif. The U joints I need have a 1.03" od cap and are 2.205" width between the clips. Such as this. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MOG-393/ For the life of me I cannot find a solid version. If anybody can point me in the right direction that would be so awesome! Thanks, Tyler.
  4. As the title states, can anyone recommend where to have a 240z steering rack rebuilt? I'm trying to outsource a few micro projects to get this build moving faster. Any input is much appreciated. Cheers, Tyler.
  5. Anyone seen any oem or reproduction windshield washer fluid reservoirs? Not concerned if it comes with or without the motor. Just looking for a clean white tank
  6. Yeah I actually just checked the sway bar bolts because I wanted to get better washers for them. The ones I have are plenty long thanks for the input though!
  7. Can anyone think of any other suspension orientation issues I might run into off the top off their head? Everything else looks pretty straight forward from what I see so far.
  8. So I'm assembling the suspension on a 240z restoration and I've run into a snag. There is a narrow and wide bushing for the front lca. Does the wide one go in the forward or aft position? I stepped out of the shop for a few drinks tonight so I didn't get to look in the fsm yet, just wondering if someone here can save me some trouble and let me know which goes where? Thanks guys! Cheers, Tyler
  9. Ok cool deal. I won't be doing the hatch til later, but I will make note of that. I'm just focusing on getting the shell ready right now so I can get the running gear on. I've been fabing and painting all winter, I need to get some assembly going or I'm going to go crazy lol.
  10. Thank you for the reply! I have a full headliner kit so the A pillars will be covered. The spare tire well has been replaced with a fuel cell well. I will have to pull the new hatch tail light cover panel out and see if anything is exposed on the top of it, IIRC the sides meet right up to the 1/4 trim panels, and the carpet buts to the bottom.
  11. Hey guys I'm restoring a 240z; I just got done applying lizard skin sound deadener to the whole cabin. My question is as follows. Is there any sheet metal in the cabin which is not covered by carpet, plastic panels, & so fourth? I need to know so I can paint any of those areas. To my recollection no sheet metal is visible, but this is a customers car, and my first z I have ever done, so I don't want to go off memory! As it stands now I'm only painting the 2 cargo compartment lids and surrounding area the exterior color. If I need to do anything else hopfuly someone replies by this afternoon! Any info appreciated! Cheers, Tyler
  12. The holes below the cabin fresh air inlets shown in the 2 pictures below. What are these for? I have a custom Z I am building right now and for the life of me I can not rememmber what these holes are for from when I disassembled the car. Are they HVAC inlets? I scoured the web for some pictures that would give me a clue and the most I found was a few pics showing the holes from the outside. The holes appeared to have a rubber grommet or possibly duct in them. Need to know what these holes are for before I can move on with working on the car (long story!). I'd prefer to find out what these holes are for without digging out the dash from all of the stored parts, so any help from you guys would be great! Thanks for reading.
  13. Hey guys, first time poster, long time lurker here. I'm building a 73 240z for a customer from California and I figured I would share some pictures and info. The car is getting fully restored and getting a dash of modernization. The power plant is a GM 5.3l LM7 iron block engine outfitted with car accessories. It will be sporting a 4l60E automatic transmission with a yank truck thruster 2600 converter. I'll be updating this thread periodically with pictures and more information. Right now I am focusing on getting the shell and doors painted then I will begin assembling the drivetrain, suspension, etc then finish the rest of the body work and paint in the spring time. Here is a link to my photobucket with 400+ pictures: www.photobucket.com/73240z And here are a few pictures from that same photobucket:
