About Me
Hello, I have been working on cars since I was 13 years old. Since then I have owned mainly Fords, but the odd Chevy, Mopar, Nissan, and Honda has snuck in from time to time. As my kids have grown up I have taught each of them a thing or two about taking care of a car, with varying degrees of success. My oldest is quite good, and even went to WyoTech. He is now serving in the US Air Force. My daughter kinda knows that she should check the oil, and might even do so once a few lights catch her attention on the dashboard. My next son never developed a passion for cars, but can do basic maintenance. He has also enlisted with the Air Force. My youngest son is very interested in working on cars, and is finally old enough to do some work with me. I am proud of all my kids, and I have a very loving and supportive wife who is nice enough to let me have "garage time". As of this month (August, 2012) I have acquired a 1973 240Z. This car has been in my family since the early 80's, going from one brother to another before I finally got it. It needs a LOT of work, and money. On the plus side, it was retrofitted with '72 carbs. On the minus side, there's rust around the rear wheel wells. Bodywork is not my strong suit. I am currently undecided which way to go with my Z. Do I restore it and include a few tasteful updates, or do I go all out with a v8 and 5 speed. Perhaps I will start with just getting it running again. I would love to hear from any 240Z owners (especially '73 240 owners) who can relate any experiences, pitfalls, quirks and idiosyncrasies that I should be aware of with this car that could save me time, money, headaches, and heartaches.
