  1. perfect- that's exactly what I was looking for. What exactly do the shims and the clips on the top do?
  2. ha, thanks for the diagram. So, It looks like there's some kind of a keep that those clips attach to on each end as well? Just out of curiousity, what do these clips even do anyway?
  3. This diagram is very different from what my caliper setup looks like. These are the parts I'm dealing with: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/getimage.php?imageurl=http%3A//www.cardone.com/Imagesftp/19/19154-01.jpg I've got the other part of the caliper as well which bolts onto the strut, as well as two brake pads. that's all.
  4. Over the weekend, I finally got all my parts together for my brake swap onto my dime. I'm using the 83' 280zx calipers and standard brake pads. My question pertains to the "disc brake hardware kit" that came with the calipers. I cannot figure out where the hell to put these damn metal clips! Heres a link to an image of the part for reference: http://info.rockauto.com/getimage/getimage.php?imageurl=http%3A//info.rockauto.com/BeckArnley/0840925.jpg Anyway, maybe it's right in front of my eyes, but I can't figure out what the hell these are for, or where they go. Any help or pictures of assembled calipers would really help. Thanks!
  5. Alright, I'm reaching the final stages of my suspension/brakes swap on my 72 510 coupe. I've done 280zx brakes/struts/coilovers etc.. up front, and ermish racing coilover units in the rear. The issue I'm running into know relates to the altered track width of the front and the rear of the car. The narrower track width in the front allowed me to fit my 15x8" wheels with 25mm adapters just right with a bit of poke with stretched tires. The problem is that the back wheels stick out really far now with the same adapters and wheels. My question is, if I need to get new wheels for it, will I need to get wider wheels in the front, so I get an even look, or will the front and back always look really staggered due the differing track widths? Also, is there any way to adjust camber in the rear besides slotting the crossmember? I really want these wheels to fit, but it's not looking good. Any help is awesome!
  6. I decided that I'm going to just go with the front brake conversion for now, and when I start making her go fast, I'll deal with the rear conversion. The backs have been giving me the biggest headache thus far, and I'd like to get the car back on the road for the summer. Thanks again for all the help guys, I'll be posting some pics of the suspension/brake upgrade when I get it done in a couple weeks.
  7. Cool, thanks for all the help man... I'll be sure to post pics when I get going on it this spring!
  8. Sweet, thanks a lot! Will I need to custom bend the hard lines, or is there some kind of kit that will work for me for the back ones? I've never dealt with bending and installing brake lines, and I'm a little intimidated to try.
  9. hey guys- I'm doing a 280zx front/rear brake swap and have some questions. I've got 280zx calipers front/rear, rotors, and plan on getting the 280zx ebrake assy and master cylinder. My question is, can I use the stock brake lines with this conversion or do I have to put in new lines? If I do need new lines, is there a pre-bent kit available or will I have to do the bending/routing myself? Any help is much appreciated!
