  1. Yeah, although a more aggressive cam probably wouldn't.
  2. I had it at stock timing, barely ran but passed with the figures above.
  3. I run it on 91 octane but the timing is very far retarded to run on it.
  4. It did pass smog, that post was from almost year ago, and he was proved wrong. Sometimes the Big Boys around here aren't always right
  5. I put mine on stock manifold but it still didnt line up right, the muffler guy charged me 75$ if i remember correctly.
  6. Yup that was the final build specs, i will say i have to have my timing WAY advanced for this build to have the power it should, however i have no ping problem and it runs clean. I'm surprised the motor even idled at stock timing when they tested it but it did.
  7. I love my twice pipes, they look awesome and make the Z sound like a 60's ferrari, however you will need a muffler guy to fit them for you if you cant do it yourself, they will not mount right straight from the box.
  8. I did not "buy a smog" that was plan b if the Z wouldn't pass. So now you all know that this engine build will pass california smog testing.
  9. So to all you nay sayers, those of you whom said this build would not pass smog. It passed with flying colors!!!
  10. An update, i drove my z with the Datsun LLC motor in 1200 miles to and back from orange county to tahoe, car worked great even at high alltitude, i maxed out the engine at top speed, it kept puling hard and showed no sign of problems. It has been running flawlessly. All in all i have about 3000 miles.
  11. 1500 miles and still going strong, runs great!!
  12. So the problem is solved, after the shop in my town adjusted the valves twice and still the loud noise persisted, i decided these mechanics were crap or there was something very wrong going on in my engine. So i took the car to Mikes Z Shop in whittier and had them look at it, and it turned out that the valves just weren't adjusted properly so they readjusted them.
  13. I just had an epiphany, so im thinking the shop didnt adjust it when it was completelly hot, so as the engine got hottor on the way home, the valves went out of adjustment. Im gunna ask the shop tommorrow and see. Ill post updates.
