  1. Sorry for the late reply , just read this ............. When I was rebuilding/building/selling turbo's here in Houston , we were getting them pretty darn cheap in the parts dept over @ the International / Peterbuilt / Mack truck dealerships ............ (it's just a replacement part to them) Maybe they have smartened up since then but with the retail price you'll pay @ a tuner shop , it's worth a shot ! Same goes for the V-band clamps. Wade
  2. Barbara Bush Elementary is in the top 1% here in Texas .... (Memorial Area) I live in a small subdivision here off of Westheimer & Hwy 6 (Briar Village) very , very close to Memorial area so my kiddos go to school there , but I don't have to have a house in 500's to 750's ............... Quiet neighborhood , people mind there own business , not alot of "through traffic". I found the a cozy little place (for me) with an awesome driveway & garage for me & my project........ wife can have the rest of the house.... If you are interested in the neiborhood , send me a PM ........ no i'm not a realtor LOL !
  3. It's back up ! Just Tried it ....... as of 0643 Houston time....
  4. Me three ........... I should have written the sellers #'s down instead of being lazy & bookmarking the adds ............
  5. I always smile & shake my head at them when I see them ............... because I know that the thing could have one of god knows how many different motor/trans/suspension combinations in a very light chasis . Theres just no way of knowing until you get close to it & listen to it or meet the owner.
  6. That is a sloppy balance mark . That being said , I think it will work fine as long as there are not any other issues with the turbo. Good luck
  7. Are you referring to the grind mark on the compressor wheels 12:00 ? If so , that is a balance mark. A SLOPPY balance mark , but a balance mark. The turbo shop has a machine that (without going into to much detail) balances the compressor wheel & turbine wheel together as a rotating assembly. The grinding mark comes into play when the builder/rebuilders machine says it is out of balance. So the builder cannot add weight to any one side ....... so he takes the rotating assembly & grinds a little.(removes a little material from the heavy side of the rotating assembly in attempt to even out the uneven weight distribution) So it is important to grind in as little increments as possible. From your pic it looks like a classic case of the rebuilder getting to agressive & accidently getting into the inside leading edge of the compressor wheel itself. It is considered cosher to (sp?) to grind into the nut & top of compressor wheel , but when you get into the inside leading edge of the compressor wheel fins you should replace the nut & compressor wheel & start over....... I worked in a turbo shop for a year & a half.
