I have a body, suspension, interior, wheels, dash, 8 point roll cage kit and a complete jags that run kit
  2. Did alot of work today. Everything is gutted, 90% done with scraping the factory noise deadening material off, dash is ready to come out except for one bolt holding it in. Factory electrical harness is out. Tail lights and dome/defrost are run, need to mount the new fuse block as soon as I make brackets. I pulled the engine a while back and now I'm gutting and getting ready to clean the engine bay. It's great working on it again! I'll get pics up tomorrow.
  3. After far too long, i'm getting ready to get this thing running. I've been driving a 58 chevy as a daily car. Up until last week it was running great, then a truck turned in front of me with no blinker while i was going 35-40. Needles to say it may not be drivable ever again but this puts me in a position where i now need to get my 72 running. the tubing should be here next week for frame rails and i'll also be getting a quote on the 10-point cage within the week. I'm having second thoughts on the cam simply for mileage purposes (nearing 3.75 a gallon in so-cal). besides, the engine is built for a nitours bottle. i can give up top end for throttle responce and drivability. I'll get pics up soon. wish me luck lol
  4. congrats! I also have a 72 in almost identical condition getting a high revving 283 nitrous motor. keep us posted and good luck with your project
  5. I'm completely confident in the strength of this block. I knew a guy that ran a 250 shot on a stock 283 rotating assembly. When the engine finally did died after 4 runs it was from a rod not the block (he didn't care... he had a 383 lined up). Which model scorpion intake do you have? I believe there where four versions ranging from 4500-7500 to 2500-6500. Do you have a part #? Or even if you could PM me with a picture or something? I'd definitely be interested. Thanks!
  6. So even for a street motor you guys are suggesting the victor jr? For my motor, with a lack of bottom end to start with, i'd think that intake would be overkill; flow-wise at least. it is just a 292... even at 7000 rpm with 90% VE it only needs around 600cfm.
  7. I'm starting to think single plane also... looking at the torker II. It has an advertised power band of 2500-6000 but on my motor would probably be closer to 3000-7000 which is perfect. I'm actually going to be using an after market ratchet-shifter so feel free to PM me if your interested in the factory one.
  8. Just an update. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=122298 I figure I'll post updates in the members projects area as not to steal the spotlight from the sick cars on this forum that deserve the attention. lol Btw, what intake to you guys think i should run. I've heard the edlebrok rpm air-gap is nice for the street but I'm really wanting some more in the high-rpm range. low speed torque isn't a huge issue but I don't want a tunnel ram lol Also if anyone is interested in the original motor and trans take a look in the for sale section. Im almost ready to give it away to anyone that can come pick it up asking $50. http://classifieds.hybridz.org/showproduct.php?product=4454&cat=16
  9. Also got my motor back from Taylor last week (Probably the best machine shop around). I can't wait to hear this thing run. It's a 60 over 283 (292) w/ scat h-beams, forged domed pistons should give me 10:1, 462 casting heads, debating what intake to run, Comp 230/236 @ 50; 480/486 lift. This will be a daily driver so I didn't want to go too crazy with the motor. It'll be running a 150-250 shot when necessary. (yes it's running two bolt mains... I'm not worried about it with a 3" stroke. I've talked to a lot of people about this setup and I'm convinced that it'll be fine. Running the numbers puts this motor @ 8000 rpm before piston speed becomes an issue with two bolt mains and this cam runs out @ around 7250;-))
  10. I bought the car a month ago and joined about a week ago so I suppose I should get the project up to date. Body on the car is pretty clean; only very minor rust spots on the quarters. I haven't been able to find rust anywhere else. Got the car for $2200 which in my opinion was a steal! Stock motor will be coming out this weekend.
  11. Hi all! I just joined a few weeks ago to start reading and learning about a car I was considering buying; a 72 240. Well, I got the car at a great price and Im starting to work out all the kinks. It will be setup with a quick-reving 283 bored 60+ over on a nitrous diet. The combo i'm throwing together should put out around 360 on the motor and i'd like to run a 150-250 shot at the track. I'm really loving this car! It'll be my dayly driver. Right now I have my hands full with wiring but I was very lucky to get an almost rust-free car. I have alot of plans for this project. I'll take it all one-step at a time and keep you all posted. I've wanted a 240 ever since I was 12 and now I finally have it! It's great that there are sites like this with all the best information in the world. -chvyzl1
