  1. It may be a tight fit, although the turbos are small and tucked up so they are part of the exhaust manifold [very compact] they might still be in the way.
  2. The 3.5 gtdi engine is a possibility. It would have an intercooler though. they make more hp and tq in the f150 version and come with the 6 speed auto. they make over 400 ft lb of torque from only 1200rpm. they are faster than the 6.2 by a little. the eng is Direct inj and has 10:1 compression and 2 small turbos that spool up at 1000rpm making huge torque early but the turbos max out early too.
  3. That 400 may be a little heavy but You can use the crank to stroke a 351W out to 400. if you can pick up 351W it might be worht the effort.
  4. Thes new v6's are very quick. I recently saw one with only a pro charger and tune making 497hp at the wheels!!! the same mustang with DOT drag radials ran a 11.01 1/4 mile and those cars are not near a light as even a zx.
  5. I thought I would chime in. am a ford senior master tech and have some info that may help. the new 5.0 has shown very little problems and is a great power maker. the new boss 302 version is even better. I have seen 5.0 making over 700hp[at the wheels] with bolt on superchargers and other small mods while the Boss version with similiar mods makes around 800hp at over 7000 rpm. the 6.2 is a big block totally new engine and is designed to allow over 7 liters in the future. hennessy makes a tt for the raptor 6.2 that is over 800hp the 2013 gt500 will have a new 5.8 liter supercharged engine with 650hp[most powerful production v8 made]. the engine is basically a 5.4 enhanced like the 4.6 was to get a 5.0 with the new 5.0 style heads. It is supposed to top 200mph!!
  6. The coyote 5.0 is actually more compact than the previous 4v 4.6 in dimesions.I am not sure about the weight. I have seen several tests with s/c on them making over 700hp[800 on boss 302] at over 7000 rpm without much other mods.
  7. the new 6.2 is a whole new design that can have up to 4.25 bore and over 7.0 liters. it will have a hemispherical type combustion chamber and 16 spark plugs.
  8. the crank from a 400m ford motor has the same main sizes giving a 4" stroke, the specifics for the rods and pistons im not sure
  9. the boss 302 block[69-70] had 4 bolt mains andwas stronger throughout. ford has recentlyreleased a new block called the boss 302 it is even sronger but pricey. as far as stock block 351, i believe the later ones may have been set up for roller lifters ,other than that i would recommend a van eng. i believe they have the right oil pan double sump. if you want more info ck a mustang sight they have tons of info
  10. as far as stock ford heads late 60s 351w heads are best or newer gt40p explorer heads. for real performance dart edelbrock ford performance and tfs have nice alum and cast heads
  11. thats a good start the biggest problem with the sbf is oil pan clearance due to front mount oil pump. need a pan meant for 80s mustang. i would get some alum heads and a nice cam.
  12. the vh45 is a nice motor but parts are slim and expensive i think th 351w is abetter choice or 4.6 3 or4v for parts availability and price. the vh45 will be sweet though
  13. hate to rain on the parade but that eng doesnt set as far back a 5.0 ford or sbc otherwise looks good . i am a tech but i havent worked on mitsu in a while they used to be kind of weak and unreliable hopefully they are better now
  14. i understand the 4 cyl argument weight size... and they can make great power, but these race cars have works built beefed up engs and when each race is done they are toast-thats ok thats why they are built. for the same power level all other things being equal the larger displacement engine is more reliable, smoother[6 or8 cyl] and for the street has more torq at lower rpms.
  15. it will fit , if it is a sc motor it has a iron block[for strength] the sc motr is tall. as far as weight without the sc it is lighter than 5.0 the weights you see posted are for complete eng intake ac compr pulleys flywheel...
