  1. Greg, if you read the last 2 or 3 pages of this thread, the posts from HLS30-08077, you will see that he has figured everything out for the upgraded wiper motor. The one from a civic will work with a little modification to both the motor shaft AND the bracket, while the one from the accord you just need to modify the bracket. He's also fixed the auto park with a relay and to put in an intermittent wiper system into the car with 3 different wiper delay units. He's done a write up on clasiczcars.com, and his user name over there is Zs-Ondabrain. Send him a PM if you have any questions after reading what he's written up. Justin
  2. That is what I got when I talked to them today. They even said that the belt will not work in my car at all. I was lied to when I called them the first time in this case. I don't mind paying for S&H both ways if its something I ordered, and then don't need it because I found something else to use, but not in the case to where I was lied to to begin with. I asked all the right questions, and got something that is only suitable to be used in a back seat, middle of the back seat at that. At least I'm getting the money for the part back. And I will be reporting this to the BBB. In the mean time, I found a suitable replacement belt from a 1971 240z, and I also talked to MSA today, and they have somene that is making a 3 point retractable system that is going to replace the seat belts for the 240z's from 1970 on up. When taxes come in, I will get a set of these and see how they work, and post the results when done. By the way, I have a hard time articulating what I'm trying to say, so it does get frustrating for me sometimes when trying to communicate what I mean.
  3. Well, upon ordering a new driver's side seat belt for my 1972 240z through this website: http://www.carbodyparts.net They are actually US Auto Parts Network, and I even called them to make sure that the seat belt I ordered was the right one. Received it today, and it wasn't even close. It was a universal 2pc retractable belt. Well, I gave them a call, and they are going to give me a refund, but not on the shipping and handling, when the S&H is half of the item itself. I will be going to the BBB website later and putting in a complaint in hopes of getting the refund on the S&H itself. And believe me, I tried to get that refunded also. Stay away from these people. Any others to stay away from, please post here for us all.
  4. The Honda motor has the same thing in it, however, it doesn't have the relay system set up on it like the Z motor had. The auto park relay feature is a sepearate system on the Honda cars, while the relay was built right on the Z motor. I was not able to figure out how to wire up the relay to get this feature to work. I too got my Honda motor from an online junkyard, and with the wiring diagram of the Honda system, it shows the auto park with the intermittent system as an external assembly. The links to the Honda wiring daigrams is somewhere in this thread, but I will email them to you Dave. And hopefully we'll be able to get something figured out this weekend. Justin
  5. Dave, I live just south of you in Lynnwood, and I did this upgrade myself. I'm at work right now, But i have a wiring diagram at home. The only thing that will not work is the auto park feature. However, I'm thinking that the intermittent wiper control I received from JC Whitney will enable this feature, for it has an auto park wire on it in case that it doesn't work. I'm hoping I have a chance this weekend to get it in. And if it doesn't work, like I said on a previous post, a co worker of mine and I will figure out the auto park feature. PM me, and maybe we can put our heads together on this ourselves. Justin
  6. I have a co worker who is an electrical engineer, and we're going to put our heads together when he gets a chance so we can hook up the auto park feature on the honda motor. Hopefully we can figure it out with the wiper delay assembly from jc whitney. I'll keep you guys updated with instructions and wire diagrams.
  7. I had this problem too when I first got my Z. The valve clearances weren't set right, and there was some rockers off their knockers, so to speak. (In other words, the rocker arms were off the valves, not engaging the intake and exhaust valves. They can come off when the valve clearances are not set right). But I'd look under your valve cover first and make sure of this before doing a rebuild or engine swap. Justin
  8. Call me crazy, but I'm going with one 12" with a custom box to go in the spare tire well, ported of course. Also, going to get the rear panel from the z store for the 2 6x9's and the fiberglass panels off of here, if the guy still makes them, for the 6 inches up front. Going all Alpine with my system, for they just released some new amps that look clean, and have good power for a system that I want to sound crisp and clear, and to bumb when I want. Interios will be black with a dark blue trim.
  9. Well, here are pics of what I need to do. Not to bad, but still a lot of work for someone who never has done welding work before. Going to pick myself up a MIG welder and going to replace the rocker panels, replace the front fenders, cowl panel, hood and inspection doors with fiber glass. Plug up the plug holes in the cabin area, repair the inner finder under the battery box and the rust hole in the fire wall, and repair some other misc rust holes/areas on the exterior. Anyone wanna come down and teach this noob how to weld, . Any tips would be apprecitated.
  10. Received the wiper linkage Thursday night, took it apart and regreased it, a little corosion control, (what do you expect from a junk yard), and installed it Friday night after work, and its working like a charm. I should of took pictures as I was going along, but was in a hurry. Now, out to install the intermittent wiper controls and to see which wire is shorting out, for my steering clumn gets warm when I have my headlights turned on.
  11. Darn it, I can't make it. However, I wonder if there is a way for me to mail a toy.
  12. 13. Awesome info. Thanks Vette. Do I smell a sticky?
  14. Well, I now have the more motor mounted up, however, after I installed everything, the passenger side windshield wiper mount link sheered again. So, I'm off to a junk yard to find me a new one, if I am unable to find one online. Anyone have one?
