  1. No longer selling as a complete vehicle. Engine has been removed and to be parted. Thanks
  2. Was it the pumpkin orange 4dr? If so I considered buying that one a couple years ago from a guy in SoCal, but it just had too many ripples in the sheet metal. Anyway, here's a quick photo I took of the rack/crossmember. It's not seized, just in need of a thorough cleanup.
  3. Cool, another 610 fan. I have a 280zx manual rack & crossmember. The rack has been 'boot free' for an unknown time so you'll probably want to clean it thoroughly & freshen up. Can ship it from Utah if you're interested.
  4. I have a W53 (open chamber) head that I can ship to you from Utah if interested.
  5. Where to the cranks commonly crack? I'm going to buying an FJ next week & I guess I better inspect the crank before I rev the snot out of it.
  6. Sounds like a plan. j/k How about you just buy the whole car? It looks like I may be selling it since I can't seem to find a job in my profession (architecture work is dead). So I'm going to start a business from an idea I've had for a couple years & need to sell the 510 to get some additional capital.
  7. The HR engines are far superior internally to the DE engines. They have 20mm taller decks/longer rods for higher revs, better rod bolts, better water passage/cooling setup, oil pumps, cams phasing on intake & exhaust, blah, blah, blah. Great engine, but yes, it will be hard for you to find an OEM ECU to run it. Also, the 6spd trans has to be from an 07-08 as well since earlier 6spds. have different bell housings.
  8. That's the one major thing I have to look into & haven't had the chance yet. It currently controls the intake cams, so I need to see if it was set up to also control the addition of the exhaust cams. If not I know of one way I probably get it to work, but that also requires some looking into. Yes, I need to clean up some wiring. I left it all easy to access so that I could get to things in case I need to fix any wiring after getting it running. Now that it seems to be functioning well I can make things look a little better.
  9. Yeah it was from an 06 G35 sedan with an auto, so it's the standard VQ. My builder motor is from an 06 6spd 350z so it's the RevUp. I may just swap the RevUp in w/out building it for now, so I can make sure I get the exhaust phasing worked out. Then later on get one built.
  10. I finally took some video of the car so I'm posting the info on various forums that I used during the course of the swap to gather needed information to complete it. It's been great to see the Vq swapped 240z's & hopefully we'll start seeing some more Vq swapped 510's. Here's the info guys: The swap itself took about a year & more $ than I want to count, but it has resulted in a quick & responsive street car that has character. Nothing that will clean the clock of most boosted cars, but NA has it's merits especially when it has the torque curve of a VQ35DE. The car is a 1972 Datsun 510 that has a VQ35DE from a 2006 G35 I swapped in, though I may be dropping in one from a 2006 350z known as the RevUp which has cam phasing on both the intake & exhaust sides. I have one sitting in my garage & want to build it up, but a recent layoff is putting a damper on those plans. The car is AEM EMS tuned, has a lot of custom bits like the mounts, intake manifold w/ 85mm T-body, R200 LSD diff, modded Z31 CV axles, modded rear LCA's to fit a wider tires under the stock fenders, exhaust manifolds, & the list goes on. Here's some pics, a vid.
  11. You can possibly fabricate an elbow that bolts to the Upper Plenum (with the T-body removed) that can then go under the reinforcement bar, then bolt the T-body to that. Basically relocate the T-body where there is more room for it & hopefully it will allow you to use a larger diameter pipe by starting the elbow further back. Otherwise do something custom!
  12. I've been running my VQ swapped 510 with an AEM EMS so I can do a Speed Density tune & not have to mess around with drive-by-wire. I do see the argument for piggybacks, but there's nothing wrong with standalones, especially if it makes your life easier. The only standalones for this kind of swap that I know of are AEM & Haltech. Haltech's Platinum ECU was released a month after I bought the EMS otherwise I would've bought it & would suggest Haltech to anyone considering this kind of swap. Injected Performance is the main dealer for Haltech use in 350z's etc. & they will take care of you, they answered my questions regarding the system promptly (when I was considering selling the EMS & grabbing a Haltech). Edit: One thing to look into is how well these ECU's can control the additional exhaust cam phasing. I'm still not sure if the AEM will, though I have purchased a VQ35DER/Rev-Up to build up when I have more $. Injected Performance will have the answer regarding Haltech. If none of them can do it, then piggyback may be the best option.
  13. If I can get it up & running before next weekend, certainly the plan, I will be participating in a local Nissan Forum Dyno day to get a few runs in & make sure nothing looks too far off power wise. Then work on the tune some more if needed. The Jenvey lower mainfold is a nice cast unit that makes the runners a straight shot, not good for hood clearance though. I'd say the runners are shorter than stock since the unit is mainly geared towards high RPMS. From what I understand various racing teams have been using the Jenvey unit for a year or two, & now it's available to the public. I like your setup because of hood clearance & hopefully longer runners to help maintain some of the low end torque VQ's are known for.
  14. Per your request, the Engine Bay. I just want to get this thing running so I haven't cleaned up the bay yet. The car before the swap when I had a KA in it- It's great that you guys made this product for the VQ35DE. Jenvey recently released their ITB kit for VQ's & I'm curious about price differences. It doesn't seem to be selling like hotcakes amongst the 350z/G35 crowd (the majority tends to like boost) but I think the people on this forum will appreciate your product more.
  15. If you want to run some #'s on a stock VQ I'd be willing to be a test mule. I was planning on building up a set of ITB's, just like what you have made, for my VQ swapped 510. I even drew up the CAD file for a flange to be CNC'd at my Bro-in-laws shop to weld the runner's onto like you have. My car is cable driven & tuned with an AEM EMS. I haven't actually got it running yet, but should this week with the help of a tuner.
