  1. Great suggestions guys, I appreciate the help! Now to get dirty and do some research to see what'll actually work best. I can't believe she'll be back out on the road soon...
  2. Just came back from the shadows and am just about finished with my swap. Shoot me a PM or email so I remember and I'll send you some info that I have from back when everything was being put together.
  3. First off... hey everyone! I've been on hiatus for a few years (graduated college, working full time, blah blah blah) but my Z has been back under construction for the past 2 months and well... I've got 1 problem to tackle before she's out on the road and "daily-driver" worthy. Needless to say, my right foot is getting very antsy. The last piece I need to fix is a solution for my windshield wipers. Due to pushing the firewall back to fit the LS1 comfortably, the stock z32 wiper linkage is cramped, blocked near the center of the windshield and therefore, completely useless. I was curious if there are any direct-drive motors + wiring harnesses out there that I could adapt making the need for the typical linkage unnecessary. Or, anything else that could fix this issue aside from just using a heaping dose of rain-x everyday, haha... Any ideas? Thanks Vann
  4. Jeff.. yup.. good 'ol SWT. And, that condition still holds true to this day.. the stallions are still in the quad. Sad thing is...I actually met 2 girls... yes 2 at SWT... who claimed to be virgins, but that was back in January.. so I'm sure that's already been taken care of by now. ugh... what a great reputation for a school.. it goes hand in hand with our statistic of 66% of our students have an STD. Good ol SWT. Olie - my Z's not done because of more basic issues.. not necessarily performance. The transmission needs to be rebuilt and I need to revamp my cooling system so I can add AC. Once that's done, THEN the Z won't be done due to performance issues. lol Sam... I don't need to beat your Z for mine to be done. If you have a z32 hybrid, then maybe, but since that's not the case.. I can accept a Datsun being faster than mine. And just so we're clear.. mine will be done when my numbers are 500/500.
  5. Alright then.. lets get this together. When is everyone going to be IN the Houston area? I will be there Thanksgiving weekend and then probably within the 2-week period around Christmas. -Vann
  6. Ken, I'll be sure give you a call when I'm out in Katy. Would anybody else be up for trying to set up a tiny meet-type deal? I'd like to see some of teh other Houston hybrids as well. Sam... ya, I'm alive, lol. I've just been busting *** trying to get out of school. I'm excited though...once I'm out, I can finally finish my Z. hooray! Jeff, I'll be back out there in mid-December so we can try to meet up then. I'll just try to post here when I know I'll be there. -Vann
  7. Hey, I have a 1991 300zx running with an LS1.. I'll be home for Thanksgiving Day and the Friday and Saturday following that. If you aren't going to be busy, I'd be more than happy to let you check her out. -Vann
  8. Ok.. I'm back from the dead. Well.. Ive just finally got some time to get back to my car.. life's been hectic lately. Sorry for lack of response to IMs or emails... Ive just been swamped, so Ill try to help you out here. 1) Power steering - I have the LS1 power steering pump running in my Z. The high pressure line is kinda spliced down to the Z32 front rack-&-pinion. It feels wonderful steering using the bigger pump. The only problem I have is that my 'spliced' high pressure line leaks, so I'm going to take it somewhere to have a hard-line fabricated. Power braking - chevy master & slave cylinders. 2) AC - A project for myself in the future. I dont believe there is any room for the Nissan or Chevy accessories. I'm looking to go aftermarket and probably have Vintage Air fab up a system for me. Oh.. and I'm in Texas... so I know what you mean about not having AC. Another thing concerning this... make sure you have a hefty radiator. The LS1 likes to run warm, but if you end up sitting in traffic and have your AC going.. you need a thick radiator and some mean fans cooling your Z or you'll overheat. (this is an ongoing battle for me) 3) I went ahead and ditched cruise control. I used it all the time previously, but seriously... you're going to have a Z with a Chevy v8... I get where I'm giong quickly. I just don't think it's necessary. 4) Gauges - Simply... NO. I tried and tried and tried to keep my stock cluster. It never worked. I got my fuel gauge to stay working, but what always ended up happening was a really stubborn signal to the Tach and no signal reaching any other gauges. I have all Autometers.. and besides my LS1 in the engine bay.. my gauge cluster received the most compliments of anything. It's a little pricey, but it'll save you a TON of headaches down the road. Funny how all your goals with your Z seem to be in-line with mine. I wanted my Z to be as stock as possible. I managed to keep everything identical except my gauges and shifter (which I'm going to have a stock z32 knob adapted to fit). Good luck with everything, hopefully Ill be on here more often to help when I can. -Vann
  9. Hey bro.. NICE! It's running! Now's where all the annoying stuff happens.. and I see you've already got your taste of it. Your clutch is probably not engaged fully.. my Z had that problem too. I had to keep readjusting the pedal until it was almost completely let out. It got bad to where.. it would work for a while (i.e. let me drive somewhere) and then unadjust back into the bad position. So I ended up NOT being able to put my Z into reverse when trying to leave from a Z car show!!! lol.. just check your pedal adjustment and make sure teh clutch is in fact engaging properly. For fuel.. I used a walbro pump.. but I ran into the same high pressure problem too. I needed an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator.. once I got that installed.. things were fixed. So give that a shot. Awesome to see you're almost able to go for a cruise! YOU'RE GOING TO LOVE IT!!!! -Vann
  10. ugh... I guess I should have never opened my mouth. it's efficient enough to give a substantial boost in hp. I'm not spending $4 grand on mine since STS doesnt make a specific kit for a Hybrid LS1 Z32. I dont have any room in the engine bay.. so... this is a better option. Besides.. all the plumbing will actually be similar to whats already under the car. Manifolds, Y-pipe.. into turbo then from turbo to intercooler then from intercooler to intake... so, I'll have 2 long pipes running underneath my car like I do now with my dual exhaust. This is just another way to make my car more unique.. and gain some nice hp to boot. I'm not trying to run 600psi on my car and have the fastest thing on the planet. I'm not looking for boost at 1000rpm. It's a simple, affordable (the way I'm doing it), unique mod that will provide me with more fun, oohs and ahhs. Ive seen dyno charts and Ive seen track passes.. these rear turbo setups do their job. Would you pass up the chance to gain nearly 200rwhp for ~$1000 ??? -Vann
  11. Shhhh! That was next! It'll be fun guys... 5 psi should put me around 450rwhp... 9 psi is going to require plastic covers for my nice seats. -Vann
  12. My project list for the Xmas break... 1) Rebuild my T56 so I actually have a third gear. 2) Get a hardline fabricated for my high-pressure power steering line to fix a leak I have. 3) a new driver-side manifold to fix a crappy exhaust leak. 4) Install these parts...... - 24x12x3 FMIC - T70 turbo - oil pump - blow off valve - 5.8psi wastegate With the setup and FMIC I plan to run 5 psi daily and turn it up to 8 or 9 for a bit of fun until I can get some forged internals. Now I'll get to use that boost gauge that's been sitting in my car ever since I had the SC on there! -Vann
  13. Hi.. I'm one of the guys running around with an LS1 z32 and I can tell you that adapting that Vette transaxle would be one helluva project. I originally bought a Vette transmission and the seller neglected to tell me about the transaxle setup so I ended up having to sell it and find an F-body tranny. After seeing that transmission and an entire C5 transaxle setup, I can tell you that it will be MUCH MUCH easier on you and your wallet if you sold it and went with an F-body trans. Withe the transaxle you will have to pound out the firewall like i did and also the driveshaft tunnel. As far as fitting the transmission in the rear... there's a bit of horizontal room, but I don't think that transmission will have enough ground clearance since the fuel tank is basically right above where the differential currently sits. If you had the time, money and patience.. more power to ya, but for a swap that you KNOW will work and will save you extra money.. just find a nice T56 out of a camaro or trans am and mate that up. As far as matching up an Fbody trans goes.. I would guess there is an adaptor or a piece that will convert the torque-tube over to the proper bellhousing setup.. I'm not quite sure how differently they mate, but I am positive you can setup a Vette LS1 to use an Fbody T56. Like you said.. to get a straight answer.. the best place as of now would be LS1tech.com and go to the conversions/hybrids forum or just into the drivetrain forum. OH.. also.. the Vette oilpan wont clear the front crossmember in the Z32. I ended up having to go with an Fbody oilpan which ended up working after I had moved the firewall back. Good luck whichever route you choose.. oh, and sorry out yor Vette! -Vann
