  1. Also have a pair of these in the garage. If interested, let me know.
  2. How is the ebrake working for those of you with this SMM Mustang rear kit? Does it operate within 3-5 clicks like a typical car?
  3. Lots of S30 content... <iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/58849310" width="500" height="281" frameborder="0" webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe> <p><a href="http://vimeo.com/58849310">Discovery Channel: Retro Car Kings</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/user8619194">Jesse Stern</a> on <a href="http://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p>
  4. Does anyone have experience with ZOOM lowering springs. They are offered on Yahoo auctions Japan and allow for a 40-45mm (1.58-1.77 inch) lowering. Here is the link: http://page17.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/v277217080 I am looking for a 1.75" lowering, ideally without cutting coils off springs like Tokico. Zoom may be a good alternative.
  5. Hi John, could you provide the names of the three US vendors? It seems through attrition, some are no longer in business. On a side note, as I consider wheel options, how much extra width on the inner barrel can I get with a coilover setup vs standard strut with Tokico springs? It seems the rear would be more an issue than the front in terms of clearance.
  6. Photo of the Cusco Pillow Ball Mounts used on a coilover setup from Japan.
  7. Great info, 5/8" monoballs equates to about 15.88mm. Good to know that the BZ3099 will work with US based camber plates. It appears though that most if not all camber plates on the market work with smaller ID springs as found in coilover setups. Is there a manufacturer that makes a camber plate that works with Tokico springs? The pillow ball top hats are actually from Cusco, not sure if HKS makes something similar. According to the Cusco site: For straight type springs. Use with optional spring upper seats necessary. Various pillow collars available to suit your needs. It appears that Cusco offers the spherical bearing/pillow collar in various ID sizes.
  8. John, thanks for sharing that critical info. Are there any alternatives to netting a 1.75" lowering using the Tokico ILK254 Illumina Suspension Kit for the 280Z? Cutting the springs would work but would that negatively affect the working range of the strut shaft? Is a better solution to use the Tokico Illumina BZ3099 front and BZ3015 rear with the cut Tokico 280Z springs with shortened strut bodies?
  9. Has anyone installed the Cusco Pillow Ball Upper Strut Mounts on their S30 chassis Z? Its a center lock type with part #246 411 A. Internet pricing is about $290 for the front pair. These Cusco mounts appear to replace the factory strut insulators and are made of a 6mm thick plate using 2017S dur-aluminum. I have a late 260Z, which has the 280Z rear larger strut insulators. According to the info gathered while searching this forum, if I switched the rear strut insulator to the 240Z style, it should lower the car about 0.75 inch in the rear. The 240Z rear strut insulator is the same as the front, with Nissan part #54320-E4100. This Nissan Insulator is $63.85 each from Courtesy Nissan. I want to lower my Z about 1.75" all around. I have the Tokico ILK254 Illumina Suspension Kit for the 280Z, which provides a 1.00" lowering all around. I am hoping the ILK254 with Cusco Pillow Ball upper mounts in the front, combined with the 240Z rear strut insulators can net 1.75" drop. Any input on whether this would work?
  10. The air conditioning 20 amp fuse blowing issue turned out to be the connector to the blower fan from the harness side. The plastic connector between the 2 leads had melted enough to arc. I replaced the connector with parts from Vintage Connections and everything works now.
  11. Leon, I've got another electrical issue...hopefully you can provide insight. When I bought the car, the blower fan didn't work and the previous owner never spent the time to diagnose so he just said there is a short somewhere. He pulled the fuse to the blower in the fuse box. I put a 20A fuse and tried the blower at all 4 speeds, blower didnt work and also blew the fuse. I then disconnected the blower motor, replaced the fuse again, and tried the fan speed switch...only at fan speed 4 did the fuse blow. Which is the more likely culprit, fan speed switch, blower resistor or blower relay?
  12. Leon, thanks for the reply. Earlier today, I performed the TSB to bypass the emergency switch in the engine bay for the starter interlock system. I was experiencing the common issue where you crank the key, and just hear clicks without the starter turning over. Initially I changed the ignition switch per recommendation of the previous owner, however that didn't solve the issue in my case. I was going to augment the power wire going to the starter with one of those pre-made wiring kits that have a relay sold through some datsun vendors. Then I came across this curious starter interlock that was present in my late 260Z. Now that the interlock system is bypassed, she starts right up! Back to the original question, what would be the advantage to bypass these factory fuel pump fail safe systems? Do they commonly fail and thus owners bypass them as a cheap fix? I did notice today when I disconnected the jumper, I couldn't hear the fuel pump operating. However, the car still started without these 2 connectors being connected to the proper locations. I did not try driving though.
  13. Hello, I recently picked up a late '74 260Z and have been going through some of the wiring. I came across these 2 connectors that are unconnected with one wire jumped. One connector should be going into a relay, while the other into the male side of the corresponding harness. A search in the FSM suggests that the connectors are the electric pump cut relay #1 and #2. The wire that is jumped is black with white stripe. Which systems are affected by these 2 connectors not being connected in the factory manner? Why is the black w/ white stripe being jumped? Thanks in advance for any advice and sharing of knowledge. http://razzi.me/p/85...http://razzi.me/p/858034 http://razzi.me/p/85...http://razzi.me/p/858035
