  1. Mull great job!! There are some design elements of that cage that look very familiar......
  2. Hey John, I had to vote "A little too queer...." I noticed the people who know you the best all agree.... Seriously I have great respect for John and his capabilities. I do think of what would Steve Link do, since he is my major competition in the same model car...
  3. Jon this is very similar to the solution sold by DP Racing that I have on my 240 Z the mounts for the front rod ends are very much like what you have put together other than the DP Racing bar is hollow and the holes for the endlinks are drilled into the bar already. I like what you are doing retrofitting and existing bar for adjustability. Let us know how it works... Ron
  4. I have one of these, although I have not installed it yet. Alan is correct regarding the tensionser's capabilities...as far as high RPM, I dont know of anyone running more than about 9500RPM in an L18 motor for any substantial length of time.
  5. Hi Pete, The rear control arms were done by DP Racing, Don Oldenberg. His shop is located in Huntington Beach CA. He worked with Mac Tilton for years and then has continued on to make performance parts for racing Datsun's and Nissans. He quitely builds some of the fasted and best handling race cars in the country. http://www.designproductsracing.com If you call let Kathy or Don know that I referred you. Don is currently working on the suspension on my 510 race car.
  6. I am wondering how much turbulance it would create in front of your radiator
  7. Yes I do have the paint colors and diamentions. The stripes are based off the DATSUN decal that is on the fender, and "landmarks" on the body of the car. Brisk are you intending to paint your car with the same layout?
  8. Yep THE Pete Brock, of BRE fame. Pete still enjoys datsuns and is working on a V8 510 at the moment(the "new" Yuma Rocket), along with his Cobra Coupe project.
  9. The Autometer white guages are the Phantom series. I dont think you are going to find the guages from Autometer that you are looking for, but this is what they look like in 5" and 2 5/8" http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/data/500/932Fiberglass_dash_photo.jpg
  10. a very Late follow up to the PDK Dash, I was involved with that project and the quality is EXCELLENT! you can see the prototype installed in my Z, see my gallery on classiczcars.com under Ron Carter
  11. Pete Brock of BRE fame sent me a link to your videos, here is his direct quote: Subject: FW: Swedish 240Z "no rust" Funny video of a 240z restoration. Peter Brock This is the kind of thing you should watch before shopping for old Datsuns. > Make sure you have a full ice chest of beer and some time to burn when you open > these. You just can't believe what they end up doing with the car. > > I don't know if you have seen these videos of a guy in Sweden > named Mull restoring a very rusty Z. The vids are GREAT! You WILL want > to save these, if you are restoring a Z. The work these guys do is > fantastic and the films are very funny and very well done. I just love > them! This is how some friends spent the last 7 or 8 months on a 73 240Z, The film brings back memories but thankfully they didn't find as much rust I dont think there is anything more than I can say....keep up the great work and the Vids... R
  12. Your friend needs to decide what he wants to do...All the race cars we know show up to the track on a trailer and go home on one too, they are not street cars. Personally I would not want to drive my race cars on the street as the roll cage can cause severe head trauma in a car accident on the street without a helmet, and I doubt your buddy is going to wear a helmet while driving on the street.... But as for shopping a good site to look at is race-cars.com to see what is available...there might be a few cars that will work.
  13. well a different seat would be my recomendation. somthing with bolsters that would hold you in the car better.... For road race we use 5 point harnesses, but roll cages are necessary too... I would suggest that you consider what you are going to do with the car as dual purpose solutions will not work well for both solutions, there are always compromises....When road racing especially, we stress safety...I would look for Safety first.
