  1. let us know what you find out. I have stock zx engine in a 72 on su carbs. so same boat. I too have a n42 with a .480 cam. Wouldn't the thick head gasket negate the added benefit of the n42? Like Leon says you will need springs, retainers possibly lash pads. Number your rockers, lash pads, springs etc. you may want to use that old cam sometime .

  5. I think you answered your own question. Newbie and no $$$ get a l series from someone doing a swap. Drop it in with some su carbs. good way to learn about simple engines

  8. Not sure about that one . But I am using a new turbo an ecu from a 88 300zx seems a lot easier (mine was remapped by JWT)
  9. probably you need to check wipe pattern when you install the cam. I found that an NA cam is good for a few more rpm up top . number your rockers if you are going to use an old cam.

  14. I have friend who teaches machine shop at the local tech school. He said he could make lash pads for me. 1. Do I need the concave bottom to sit on top of the retainer or can it be flat ? 2. I assume I need to use harden steel stock ? thanks
  15. Hmm I have some that were drilled . I was told they will work but haven't got around to install ...
  16. I have them. they are OK biggest problem is the female side. It is not stiff so it tends to fall in between the seat and the trans tunnel . they constantly need adjustment. The more I think about it... more I dislike them certainly better than 40 year old belts. If you find better options LMK
  17. Newzed Knows a lot more than I do but... since it is a 4 speed have to be a 280 assuming the engine is going into a 280
  18. I was wondering the same. Only done it a few times but 22mins ? It usually takes me at least 1/2 day to make sure everything is torqued properly. Yes ms2 will drive 6 coils, I have one that I got from a buddy using ford coils. now if I could just learn how to tune ...

  21. The the CLSD had a aluminium finned cover but then anyone can switch out covers
  22. and my oil pressure gauge doesnt work well. Mine said 0 at idle . I put a mechanical one on from harbor freight had 10 psi
