  1. Try Doug down at UPGarage in Tacomaa (253-565-9823)he deals with a lot of GTRs and has done a few RB swaps into S30s
  2. hmmm - maybe the sale of my rb240z could be the downpayment on one of these
  3. Q - nice to see your car is finally on the road. BTW - you won't be disappointed with the Vipec - my car (soon to be ex-car) runs very smoothly with this ems.
  4. I saw that the other night and thought I recognized it. Nicely restored car - congrats.
  5. Gentlemen, I just listed my RBZ for sale in the classifieds, but I also wanted to give a big thanks to the crew here at Hybridz (particularly Matt H, Stony, BobH, Careless, Fentin, JohnC). Your patience in answering my questions over the years about parts or just to provide advice on how I should set up my car has been much appreciated. Among the various auto forums on the web, HBZ is at the top of the list, both for its technical information and the quality of its members. I'll check in on HBZ every so often and let you know what new fun car I end up with. Best regards, Matt
  6. I would second the thought on the British Museum, one of my favorites. As Alan said, the food is actually quite good if you don't hang around Picadilly or the Strand too much. Soho has an amazing array of eateries, just wander around and you'll find something you'll like. If you like spicy food, you will not find better Indian restaurants than in London (certainly not in the States). Some of the Pakistani and middle eastern eats are also very nice. Chasing everything down with a pint of Newcastle Brown or London Pride is pretty good too. Ye Old Cheshire Cheese on Fleet Street is an interesting pub to visit if you happen to be in the City.
  7. Joel - I'm guessing you've seen this, but if not have a look at gtr.co.uk, tons of threads on shuffle (aka compressor surge). Some believe the balance pipe eliminates the issue (HKS makes a stupid expensive manifold), others suggest that it can be tuned out.
  8. Does anyone have a good condition spare set of the hard lines (with all the fittings) used to feed water to the turbos? If so please send me a PM with price. Thanks Matt
  9. Awesome - Thanks for the info. I damaged the indicator on one of my struts a couple years back and thought it would forever be set at 3!
  10. Seems like a RB26/30 combo from RIPZ would be a better choice. Twin turbo, nice rpm range, and massive torque. I have to believe that it would also be cheaper than a completely custom 3.2L L28dett.
  11. Nice notchback - I wanted one of those when I was 16 - unfortunately they're pretty rare in the US. The old school vans with the flip out front windows are pretty cool as well. Thanks for sharing these pics.
  12. I paid fairly close to list price, however I did so to get full support from my tuner and the dealer that sold the unit here in the US. That said, if you are going to tune this EMS yourself I would suggest emailing a couple of the dealers down in Aus/NZ as their dollars are currently weaker than USD and the list prices are nearly identical in nominal terms. Of course you wouldn't have access for troubleshooting quite as easily. Good luck. My local tuner (Doug at UP Garage in Tacoma) has installed three of these units (RB25, RB26, and maybe KA) with very good results (smooth power and torque, solid idle and drivability). I'm hoping this is the last EMS I need for my car!
  13. I just bought the plugin version for my RB. It should be installed and tuned by end of May. I'll let everyone know how it turns out.
  14. Nice ride. The shift boot gives it just the right amount of funk!
  15. Thanks Mike. Out of curiosity - what engine management are you running?
  16. Here's a quick picture of the my updated engine bay. The local shop that finished the swap for me did a great job. [http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=23148&size=big&cat=&ppuser=8571]
  17. Cool - Thanks Joel. I am currently running a 3.7 ratio and with the RB25 5 spd I am just way too low on revs (I can hit 75mph at redline in 2nd). I want a little more zip in 1st and 2nd. Of course traction will (or lack thereof) be a bigger problem. Send me a PM with the price your asking. Regards, Matt
  18. Very nice - continued improvement on an already amazing car!
  19. TTT - still looking for this. Thanks
  20. Thanks for the update on this pan - looks great. If I hadn't just finished my motor and oil pan a few months ago I would have seriously considered this option! For guys thinking about buying this pan, keep in mind the Kiwi dollar is a bit stronger than 3 weeks ago. $1850 NZD is equivalent to $1050 USD today. Not cheap but I would echo earlier comments - this is a great solution (especially for road racers) to an issue that has plagued most RB swappers on this board since Clint first got everyone excited about RB motors more than 7 years ago.
  21. Looking for the long nose version from 1986. I need the version with the 12mm ring gear bolts. Please PM me if you have one available and what price you are asking. Thanks Matt
  22. An Australian friend of mine told about these drop bears. He used to work maintence on the Sydney harbor bridge and he and his co-workers had to inspect the bridge carefully before they started work so as to not get attacked by these feral koalas. Sounded scary! Here's a quick reference for those not in the know... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drop_bear
  23. I took another look at the recirc piping I used to have on my car. We ran the inlet back from the BOV into the rear turbo, after the MAFs. This air had already been measured by the ecu but I don't think it was critical to split it between the two turbos (which flow into a single pipe through the IC. The engine ran pretty well, but I will admit it wasn't like the stock setup (twin BOVs, with single pipe back to each turbo).
  24. dwarlick I was running a recirc set up on my engine before recently going to d-jetro. I used the single BOV and had twin pipes running back to the turbos (one each I believe). I'll look for some pictures of it tonight and post them up. Matt
