  1. Not looking to eliminate the booster completely just looking for one that's smaller
  2. Hey guys, so I'm in the tear down phase of an LS1 swap (motor from a 2004 gto). Car is a 1982 280zx n/a. I had been planning on keeping my factory brake booster/master but after soon disassembly they are in pretty rough shape. Salvageable sure, but I was wondering if anyone knows of an alternative that will bolt up without too much hassle and take up less room in the engine bay without sacrificing braking power?
  3. Well I've finally finished removing my intake/exhaust manifolds to replace my leaky old gasket. Now I'm kind of nervous about progressing any farther. I am looking at the bolts that came out of my exhaust maifold and the ones I ordered to replace them are studs. So what gives? I have P79 heads (car is an 82' N/A) and all I could find was studs, so I went ahead and ordered them. You could imagine my suprise then when I removed not studs but bolts from the exhaust manifold. Am I missing something here? Do I just install these studs in place of the bolts? Or did I goof up my order somehow? Also the bolts at both ends of the exhaust mani. were sheared off beneath the surface. What is the best way to remove these? My default solution is to drill them out as carefully as I can with a left-handed drill bit, but I was hoping someone might have a better way (or maybe just some solid advice on actually doing that)? Lastly any advice on the best way to clean up the mating surfaces? I was thinking a can of brake cleaner along with some razor blades for scraping will do the trick, any objections?
  4. Greetings all! I'm new here and new to owning a Z (pictured here http://imgur.com/a/WdWSJ). I've been lurking for a few weeks enjoying all the amazing creations and soaking up as much knowledge as I can. But unfortunately I've hit a snag while working on my 82'. I noticed that the rear diff was very caked over and surely leaking while changing my exhaust/intake manifold gasket (exhaust leak). So the plan was simply remove the cover clean everything thoroughly inspect for damage, make a new gasket out of RTV and seal 'er up. But like many things in life it wasn't as simple as I'd have liked. I now have all the bolts out of the cover and the nut that attaches the cover to the body (also the nuts that hold the cover to that 'hanger?'). Everything is loose in varying degrees as I raise or lower the diff but I am nowhere near being able to get the cover out. I've scoured the FSM and the forums but I've had no luck. My current theory is that I may have to actually take the diff out to let it slide back away from the cover but I'd really rather not do this. Any advice or links would be greatly appreciated.
