  1. I recently purchased a 2006 LS2/T56 to put into my 77 280Z. I came across this site while looking for information about what engine I wanted to use. http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/LSPrimer/Part1/ The author's name is Bill Vista and he has some wonderfully written technical articles. Although his primary focus is off-road vehicles, the information and equations will translate to anything automotive. He really goes into detail on the LS2 since he ended up selecting one for his vehicle. It seems like several of us on this site are engineers by profession or by heart so I think his articles would be a good read for just about anyone. He covers a wide array of topics from electrical systems to driver restraint but I especially recommend his articles on cooling systems and break systems. Just click the "TECH GARAGE" link on the left and scroll down. Hope you guys enjoy these articles as much as I do!
  2. I'm not a mechanic or anything but I have had that problem before with different cars and everyone says that a good bet is the starter or ignition switch. One of the times it doesn't start the first time you should take something and give the starter a couple good whacks then see if it engages. The ignition switch should be located directly behind where your key goes in. It has a plastic end with a slot in it that can be turned with a screw driver. That's how it was in my 280ZX. I would definitely give those a closer look. Good luck with your car.
  3. What about using a wear resistant paint like DuraCoat? It is a little more involved than just spray painting a part but it has been tested on firearm suppressors and has seemed to hold up to fairly high temps (500F+). Another product is called DuraHeat which is capable of going up to 1800F and cures at room temp.
  4. I recently purchased door bumpstops from a car he is parting out. Slightly torn but completely understandable for 30+ year old used parts. Fair price and quick shipping. I would definitely buy from aziza z again.
  5. I have purchased several items from 1 tuff z including several of his billet items and a couple seals. Everything has been great from the products to the prices and prompt delivery. I realized that I didn’t need one of the seals that I purchased and he allowed me to post that it was for sale in his original thread. I will definitely be buying from him again. Possibly a billet shift knob!
  6. Missing school can be risky but in the end I feel that family (relationships) takes priority over just about everything. You obviously seem like you were close to him. Paying respects at someone's funeral is a onetime thing while classes happen multiple times a week. Your teachers/administrators should understand your need to be at the funeral. If they don't then I am glad that I am not their kid. If you would regret not going more than you would regret not making it to a couple classes then you should definitely go. Sorry for your loss.
  7. Bonus points if that Glock is also stolen. (wouldn't surprise me considering the phone)
  8. I would be a little cautious about this. First of all, if the phone was stolen in June they might not be the ones that actually took the phone. Second, since it is a blackberry there is a lot of information that could be stored on it leading him to you (i.e. your address/contacts etc.). Definitely contact the police since it is stolen property but I wouldn’t jump to conclusions and cause the person to feel threatened. You did say that these were the latest pictures so if he has had the phone all along and you know that he is the one that stole your phone … GET HIM!!! And do tell us how this all turns out. We all love a happy ending. Happy hunting!
  9. Did our thread subscriptions transfer over also?
  10. Hopefully this isn't a repost. I figured a lot of you fabricators out there would appreciate this guy converting a 240Z to a solid aluminum body. He has some other projects that he has finished. I haven't seen any updates for a while so hopefully this is still in the works. Link http://www.studiotimecapsule.com/aluminum_datsun_240z
  11. Could you post a picture with your door panel in place so we can see what the window crank cover looks like in place?
  12. I would be interested in this but it would depend on what options they have. Are they just making a master template that can be customized or is there only going to be one option? I haven't delt with speed hut yet so im not sure how the process works.
  13. Ok. I would still be interested in the heater control valve if it is MT w/ AC and not leaking.
