  1. well i am fianlly back with some updates 3 years later lol. sooooooo first off i had to quit my job get a new one then bought my first house and then got married within the last year so time to work on the z has been very limited lol but i do have some updates. first lets start with i gave up on the stock l28 and ripped it out as well as the trans and decided to redo the entire car so i stripped it completely in the process of sanding and all the super fun stuff lol and I run into a good amount of bondo on the hatch looks like I will either have to do some metal work or get a new hatch. so at the same time I was sanding and all that awesome stuff I decided to remove all the glass from the car and all was going great till I got to the windshield and decided to go at it myself. (not a good idea) I shattered it. and now for the big fun part. so when I decided to do away with the l28 I had to pick what I wanted to replace it. now all of my friends said to just LS swap it and I said no I don't want a big v8 in it I know its easy and fairly cheap but no. and as I thought more and more about it I decided that I wanted to stay in the family of Nissan/Datsun soooo I picked the RB25det swap. and yes I know one of the most popular swaps but I saw it as easily accessed info for questions I will have as I proceed on. so I ordered to engine and trans and just the other day got it in, and started to rip it apart to check things and to clean it up. also while I was at it why not through the big PTE 58/57 turbo on it ive had sitting around for so long. anddddddd that's where the updates stop now I am just waiting on funds to get the rear sump pan I need to mock it up for some engine and trans mounts then off to make her pretty with some fresh paint.
  2. Um i would say check your fuel pressure or maybe your fuel filter could be clogged up causing a restriction starving it there for reduced power.
  3. I used great stuff its a expanding foam for walls and house stuff. Then i just sand it down smooth and Im either going to use bumper repair like everyone else is or bondo then sand it smooth and paint it.
  4. Thanks i have some big plans for this build ive got a monster turbo sitting in the house just waiting to go on the car lol.
  5. So about a year ago i came across this 280z and decided to buy it, since it was in great condition and well in price range. Little back ground on the car. Previous owner converted the l28e in it to carborated for some reason but couldnt get it to run right so sold it to me. Now i have started the rebuild back to fuel injection with megasquirt2 v3.57 and much much more. Ill try and post on here and keep this an updated thread but money is not on my side lol.
  6. Thanks guys that helps a lot I'll see what I can get done with that. But also if there is anyway someone could maybe snap some pretty detailed pics of the harnesses all plugged in and where they need to go that would help a lot as well but again thanks guys.
  7. hey guys just to start im am a new z owner got 1975 280z in amazing condition but everything but the engine it self came in totes wiring harnesses trim pieces so on. so ive been working on getting it up and running but have had zero luck getting the harnesses put back were they go and connected to the right spots. im not a complete noob when it comes to wiring as im a electrical tech at a big ford dealer here. but that doesnt really help with a 40 year old datsun lol so if anyone could help me out with what goes where and how things are wired up that would be helping out alot. also have alot of wires that have no connectors at all and are just there. so any help will be much appreciated will post pics of the build soon thanks guys.
  8. ok upon further investigation i figured out that the pump i have is a 20 dollar ebay pump that is used for carburated engines so it will only run a max fuel pressure of 7psi not the 38psi i need lol so i am going to order me a walbro 255lph esternal inline pump and then wire it up correctly unlike the current pump.
  9. ok i know ive got the relay there are two plugs that go into it. i know the pump work cause i have put it to power and it send fuel to the rail. the pump that is in the car looks nothing like the factory pump it is a cube pretty much kinda confused me for a little till i saw the power wire going to it. but i also saw two other wires that were not connected to anything im guessing those are the original fuel pump wires? if so that should mean i can take the power from the pump and connect it to the wire coming from the relay/afm switch and that should cycle the pump?
  10. thanks very much for the reply and the diagrams they are very help full. let me ask you this i can take the power from the pump and run it in with the relay and that should fix the issue correct? ive been looking through all of these diagrams for weeks now now trying to understand them and it is not easy but im able to follow most of it.
  11. hey guys i just got a 1975 280z not to long ago the car came with pretty much everything i need aka the wiring harnesses and so on. now i just started to wire it all back up and all is going well learning alot but i cant get the fuel pump to cycle on at all. so i go look at it and it for sure is aftermarket and the guy ran a power wire straight from the fuel pump to the engine bay. now my question is how do i go about either wiring it up to the factory harness. or can i just wire it to a switch and flip it on when i need it then in that case will it always run will i need a pressure switch to cut it off when i reach the 36 psi of fuel pressure? help is much appreciated thanks guys.
