  1. The head is based off a Honda K20 4 cylinder head. Of course it's being modified to fit a L series engine.
  2. 400 CFM !! I've heard of people getting 200-210 out of very-well massaged Z heads but 400 cfm is out of this world! What are these heads getting stock?
  3. One more thing: which would be easier to build and more cost effective? An aluminum head or regular iron heads? Forgive me if this has been said before.
  4. Derek, I just want to thank you for undertaking such a time and resource consuming task. I have never seen anything like it on any other forum. As far as the head construction goes, what are the proper steps to constructing, building, and testing these? Will Flow bench test be next?
  5. Alright, thanks for the help. Looks like this guy really has no idea what he is talking about
  6. Hello guys! I don't post here much, I am mostly a lurker but I need some of your expertise. I looking at a r200 LSD that the guy claims is off of a 1986 300zx--from all my research they only made the LSD from late 1987-1989. I am trying to find out if this guy mistook the year and I really have a genuine 87-89 LSD I could buy on the cheap, unfortunately I am not in the area where he lives so I can't check it out my self I only have pictures as references Could help me properly identify this. Thanks
  7. He didn't say, at the wheel hp but I understand your suspicions. You're right, when I was talking to him on the phone he didn't really give me specifics on the the engine. We'll see when I get to his shop tomorrow if he (or his friend) have any receipts, details, and/or specs on the engine.
  8. You never know, I still need to talk to him about it and see if I can get any info from his friend. But let say it doesn't have that much horsepower, would it still be worth it?
  9. Yes it runs, he can start it up when I go see it. He just has it strapped into a non operable chasis right now. I am cautiously optimistic too. Is therr anything I should look for?
  10. Hi all! I don't post on here much but got a question, I am starting my 280z project and I was looking on craigslist when I found a Datsun L6 for sale fully built, stroked, head work done, performance cam, and Weber carbs for $800. He claims it was dyno'ed at 325hp at the flywheel. Anyway, I called the guy, he owns a auto shop and he traded the engine for a VW Bug from an engine builder friend of his. He was going to use it on a aborted Datsun project but he doesn't have the time anymore. He doesn't have the dyno sheet so there is no way of me knowing how much power it makes. I guess I can ask for his friends number and ask him about it. I am going to check it out tomorrow. Do you think this is a good deal or not? Should I be suspicious? Thanks!
  11. Your welcome! Every time I watch this show i get the urge to buy a junker and hot rod the crap out of it. These guys are very entertaining to watch.
  12. Here is the Motor Trend YouTube channel I am subscribed. I mostly watch it for these guys called the Road Kill crew; in keeping with the spirit of DIYing these guys do nothing but take junky cars and make them into awesome machines. This week they are working on a 240z called the Rotsun, I suggest you guys watch, it's pretty hilarious and entertaining:
