  1. OMG, i wish i had my Z like this. I cant find a body shop with the ballz to do such work here in my city, or the shops i have visited fear early datsuns because of the work involved. My Z is only a shell at this moment too. (sorry for my engrish)
  2. This is mine as I got it some time ago, currently is on the bare bones waiting for a bodyshop.I'll keep it white. A friend's 260Z wich sadly, is now "graphite gray". Both cars from BAJA, Mx.
  3. The starter from the KA engines will fit and even the old starter from a L series engine. Alternators are basically the same, I installed a Quest Alternaor (110 Amp unit) on a L26 with a minor pulley modification, so It shouldn't be hard to find a US equivalent.
  4. Z32 leather seats on my 78 S30. I got both seats for cheap. (30 USD) This side rubs badly with the armrest, the seats aren't mounted "teh right way". S30 seat rail on the Z32 seat, one bolt will fit, the other no so i had to use self-tapping sheetmetal screws. Again, this will no fit, so i used the miracle scrws again, this was temporarily because the car is undergoing a complete restomod.
  5. ¡¡IT'S ALIVE!! After 2 long years, the Engine finally came to life Yesterday. It was the "Cold Start Valve", was getting stuck, sometines it flooded the engine and other times it didnt inject any gasoline. And what about the Starts-but-stops Problem? The Fuel Injection system came from a 1977 Z, and the Ignition Switch wiring was a bit different, and I let a friend do the wiring. FAIL. The START and RUN wires where backwards that why the engine didn't start Heres a 1:42 min. Video of the engine running, still runs rough. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yk8BK_wU6FQ Im still using the L24E AFM, but I adjusted it and now it works great. Thanks everybody for teh help!!! Next Year: RB20DET FTMFW!!
  6. I have 2 AFMs, one is from a L24E Maxima and the other, I dont really know from what car is
  7. I was wondering, since Im on a very tight budget, how to keep the stock 280Z gauges when swapping a newer engine. I'll be swapping a RB20 running on Mega Squirt, but I dont have any Idea on how to keep the stock tachometer. I read on another forum, a guy made a simple circuit to emulate the pulses to the Tach, but he posted no pictures of the circuit, can anybody help me? Thanks.
  8. Heres the story: Abouth a month and a half ago, I bought a 1978 280Z, which was stripped of of almost all the components of the fuel injection system. Here's a pic of the engine bay the day I got the car: I wanted to keep the EFI setup, so I bought everything from a friend...and this is how it looks now This is da problem: Since I'ill be swapping a RB engine, I bought the a Walbro GSL392 external fuel pump, and it has a flow rate of 255 liter per hour... The new pump almost "bolts"-on in the stock location...and I used the original fuel damper So, where's the problem? some people told me its the higher flowing pump the problem, others say its the fuel injectors sticking...can the fuel damper bring higher fuel pressures? The engine only keeps running for about 15 seconds until it floods, and The 6 spark plugs where all wet with gasoline...
  9. I got a nice AFM from a junk yard Maxima with the L24E engine...I want to know if it is compatible with a 1977-1978 L28E engine. Some people say yes, other say they're not compatible, what you guys think of this? Thanks for any advice.
  10. Well, this Afternoon I complete the installation of the 2 seats... Seat comparison The S30 seat rail almost fits the Z32 seat, One bolt will fit, altough the another one not. The bolts on the S30 are phillips head and the Z32 are 12mm. For this bolt, I used a self tapping 3/8" screw Ready: I did the same for the other rail and then took the seat and put it into the car, one side will fit correctly For the other, again, I used the 3/8 screw Now I have 2 "new" seats!! Its not a perfect fit, but is cheap, and almost a bolt On The bolsters hit the armrest a bit
  11. I was buying parts for a 240SX...Z32 brake and diff upgrade, wheels, hubs...etc, but then I bought a 1978 280Z, in less words: I want to recycle as many parts as possible, I've read about the rear suspension swap, swapping a S13 rear suspension will allow to use the big disc brakes and VLSD...but there's little information on how to put the Z31 hubs on a S30, so I'm asking for any information regarding the swap, a friend is going to part out his Turbo Z31, and i wanna buy all the parts that are neccesary. Well, here's what I got to this moment: Last sunday, I took the S30 Brake booster to compare it to the Z32 unit. It barely fits, altough the firewall holes are not identical, they can be modified with a drill to bolt the Z32 booster. Well, at least thats good news...
  12. *Its a manual seat, a Electric one may not fit 'cause its too wide *The head rest on my seat cannot be removed, altough I removed one on another seat *The rails are very different, and being a personal car Im going with fixed position.
  13. Yesterday I got a nice and clean Z32 leather seat(driver side), barely fits on my 280Z...but Its a good lookin' and cheap upgrade. (Next week I'll frabricate the mounts)
  14. I own a 78 280Z, and it has a metal box on the spark plugs side, and there are some relays in...I want to replace/delete them, but i dont know for what purposes are they (sorry for my engrish) Thanks everybody!
  15. Mexicali is in BAJA, our sister city is Calexico (92231), environmental laws in Baja California are very lax, so I dont care about running Megasquirt. And about the mounts, I didnt know how heavier was the RB20, so I guess custom mounts are mandatory, the McKinney mounts are somewhat expensive, I cant afford them
