  1. Okay, so I bought the car (a 71 240Z)with vise grips for window crank handles.... I would like to do a electric window upgrade. I don't think it would be possible for me to salvage the regulator splines, just because of how messed up/perfectly round they are. I had an idea of welding a nut onto the regulator shaft, and possibly modifying a 6 point socket to work with the window motor. Ideas, thoughts?? I do not have the electric window kit yet, so I do not know if this is entirely possible, but I am open to ideas.
  2. I am currently doing the LT1 upgrade, and my reasoning is it was free. I live in CA and the Firebird wouldn't pass smog without a lot of work, so I bought a 71 Datsun that;s smog exempt, and now I have a use for the LT1! The LT1 has it's problems with the optispark, and it's horrible placement behind the water pump. I would like to point out the new Corvette Stingrays are using an LT1 again! I haven't looked into the possibility of parts from the new LT1 bolting onto the older ones, but I'd like to think at least some of it will. The LT1 is easier to come by in my opinion because everyone wants the LS1, so you'd have better luck, I got my firebird for $500 for the whole car, the car ran, but had a massive coolant leak and lots of problems. The 93 LT1 from the firebirds have a Oil Filter Cooler housing and that was cracked and also impossible to find (Thank god for JB Weld!!), so make sure to look for that, as they were not on a 94-96. The 97-02 had the LS1. I hope this info helps.
  3. Sorry for the super late response, getting to working on the car again. I will be using a 4 or 5 point harness at some point, I plan to install the rear strut brace then have the seat belts go over the top of it to the back. I found out the Subaru impreza seats I;m looking for from a 04-05 sti are 19" at the top and 19.5" at the bottom. I know above it says 19" at the legs, but I gotta measure my 71 to make sure. I'm so psyched it's this close!!!
  4. I love the look of this hood, where did you get it? I can't find any aftermarket hoods that are vented.
  5. Wow okay thanks allot for all the pictures and information ! I really appreciate it. When I go to tackle the job I'll post plenty of pictures, but won't be for a while. Doing the V-8 swap now, there goes all my money.
  6. I agree with you Atozone, I think the GT40 style hood looks great, I would be throwing money at you if you combined that with the Camaro SS scoop in the center. If it had nice mesh and made the scoop and vents functional I would be sold. I want the SS style hood, but want something extra, I'm all about the look, but even more so if its functional! I dont know if Id like the GT40 vents, or something like the Viper vents. Sooo ummm thats my opinion.
  7. Wow looking good. I'll have to see if I can get one of those ash tray covers. Thanks! 720fast - is that a stock auto insert for the car?
  8. Interested in the two piece door panels and the console with cup holder!
  9. Has anyone flocked their dash? How easy/difficult was it? What kit did you use and what process did you take? please post pictures.
  10. Okay cool. Sorry for not being up on the terminology, what's an r200? I'm fairly new to all of this!
  11. Thanks for the info. Ritrebor thanks for the pics, would you mind posting one of an angle from the drivers seat? Dude your ash tray cover is awesome, who makes it? Thanks again for the pics.
