  1. Would an Inside Track member mind scanning a page or two of their ad, or posting something from Inside Track? I'd like to see the savings opportunities. Years ago when Harbor Freight was only known to me to be a catalog store I bought an anvil. Normal price was $55. Free shipping on orders more than $50. Well, it was on sale for $35. GREAT! But shipping for the item was $25. So I bought a knife for $4 and Inside Track for $12 -- plus the $35 anvil -- total cost over $50, free shipping again. Anvil was exactly what it was supposed to be -- a 55# cast iron anvil. The knife was not so great. And Inside Track showed some great discounts at the time, but nothing that I bought during the 15 month subscription. Anyway, that was 15 years ago. Well, just to ask again, anyone mind scanning a few pages of a members magazine? --Mark http://www.marksatterfield.com
  2. Hey, thanks for the replies. * Why Acetone instead of mineral spirits? Well, the consideration was that acetone should evaporate around 60x faster than mineral spirits. What I expected was that the acetone would thin the product and flash off quickly. According to the label, acetone, mineral spirits, and several other thinners are allowed. Do you usually use mineral spirits? * Paint takes awhile to harden up. Well, thanks for that, it gives me "hope" that maybe it will still harden up! It has been around ten days now, though, so I'm not sure what more to expect. Since this paint is supposed to dry from the inside out, I've considered wiping it down with mineral spirits just to keep the skin wet, to allow the inside to dry. I'm not sure this is a good idea, though. Any suggestion there? * Sanding it down/removing the paint. Yuck. I was hoping I wouldn't hear that one. There is no rush, so I think I'll wait at least a month or so before I do anything drastic. From other web sites, it looks like people "jokingly" suggest six months for drying time. --Mark http://www.marksatterfield.com
  3. So I've tried Rustoleum Enamel on a car. Thinned with acetone. Orange peel, likely due to not being thinned enough (thinned 20%/80% -- 2oz acetone + 8oz paint). Three coats, with 24 hours dry time between coats. Problem now is that the paint is still soft. It doesn't feel "wet", just soft. I can scrape it off with my fingernail. * Any ideas of what went wrong? * How can I fix it on the current paint job? * How can I make sure it doesn't happen next time I paint a car? --Mark http://www.marksatterfield.com
