Still have the Carbs?
-
Just picked up a ratty datsun 260z - was set up with dual webbers but one of the webbers has been stolen.
Looking for any carb setup to get it going cheaply. I have a buddy who can rebuild them for me so poor condition is fine.

I don't remember it being all that different than the vinyl, the rear wheel housing is the hardest, make sure you practice that a few times before you apply the contact cement.
Great - thanks for the info.

Yes I did about 4 yrs ago, the set I bought was black leather with grey stitching and it looks fantastic, anyone who opens the door mentions the leather smell. I'm very pleased with it.
Awesome, how hard was the install?

Anybody buy/install the diamond leather kit from Interior Innovations?
I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on this but would love some feedback.
thanks,

Anybody know of a shop in California that can handle this swap for me?

I have a 280z with LT1 and auto transmission out of a 95 corvette.
I find the engine really enjoyable but the auto is pretty joyless.
I'd like to switch to a t56 transmission with the LT1 and also be able to use the same transmission when i switch to an LS3 as some point well into the future.
Any advice?

I'll take the throttle body pending a picture. Did I miss it in the pictures above?

The compressor and the idler pulley both mount to the same bracket, and that pulley is only there to adjust tension on the compressor. You can remove all of them with no issues.
It'll be a lot more obvious once you're there looking at it.
Awesome! Thats exactly what i was thinking but didn't want to under-think it.

I'm going to remove my non-working a/c unit in my 75 280z. I did take a look at the FSM and it seems pretty simple for the engine bay but i wanted to confirm i could remove both the compressor pulley and the idle pulley as well - leaving only the (1) belt for alternator and water pump.
thanks

Rad! Very cool.

Yeah, I think the 73s fit a full size tire and the 75s fit a smaller tire. Thanks for looking out though.

I actually ordered a ton of parts to a refresh and then broke my colarbone and some ribs in a motorcycle accident so its gonna be some time before i can climb under the car. Sooo sad.

It's a sealed system, so if it leaks any fluid there's something wrong. Luckily the whole clutch system in these cars is easily accessible and really inexpensive to replace, so even if you do all of it you're not out much.
When you've replaced the cylinder, bleed it just like you would your brakes.
Thanks for the advice,
I ordered a set including the clutch master, slave and hoses and hopefully that will fix it up.
Also got some oil, coolant, and spark plugs - so its going to be a productive weekend.

Sounds like your clutch isn't disengaging. Get someone to push the clutch in and watch the slave cylinder/lever to see if they move. If they don't, or it moves a little, check your master cylinder for fluid and bleed out any bubbles. If it does move, then something might be wrong with clutch itself, the release bearing, or the collar.
So i took a look at the car over the weekend. The Slave seemed to be moving okay but is was leaking alot of fluid. I'm thinking i'll replace it and flush the system and see if that helps.

Great - thanks for the help.
I'll look into it tonight.
