  1. Yea he's on here. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=135431
  2. Thanks i was gonna ask if you had any tips especially about how you layed it up. I will be using West Systems epoxy. I used wood because i was gonna try and form some aluminum over it but that didn't go so well. Belt sander with a 40 grit belt made pretty quick work of it. Only have a couple hours in it.
  3. Cool! Good to know. Looks beautiful by the way. Did you use any type of phenolic or teflon gasket to go between the lower and upper intake? I'll be making one to try and keep the heat out of the aluminum. Hopefully i'll get to it soon. Got a few different projects going on right now.
  4. Yeah he has a build thread going and looks close to starting the motor up. Plenum looks really good. I was going to do it like that but got a lot of feedback about using just adhesive and changed my design. I think the big drawback is the surface area of the part that will be bonded. I actually got some response from the company that makes (or made) the CF intake manifold for the Honda B18 (AIR) They are working on one for the Toyota MR2 now. Another reason for using mechanical fasteners as opposed to adhesive is the ability to change the plenum design and maybe add some diffusers to the baseplate to direct flow evenly to the individual cylinders.
  5. Just found the thread you were referring to i think. Hasn't been tested on the motor yet though i guess.
  6. I knew i couldn't be the first one to try this. How did it end up working out? Did you ever finish it? Here's a link to a thread i just started. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=146362
  7. Hello everyone. I'm hoping to get a little insight on a project i'm working on. I am making a forward facing upper intake plenum for my RB. I was looking at Monzter's intake build and see that there are some very knowledgeable guys here so maybe i can get some good ideas. Here is the baseplate bolted to the lower runners. I am going to make the plenum out of carbon fiber and will have a flat portion around the perimeter of it that will be bolted to the baseplate. It will be 3/8"-1/2" wide and i will be making a retaining "ring" to distribute the clamping force and even out the load. Hope that makes sense. Here are a couple pics of this. Cross-sectional view. Top down view of what the retaining ring will look like. The grey dots are the fasteners. I don't think i will need as many as i have drawn if i use the retaining ring though. Here are some pics of the wooden buck/mold i made to show the plenum design from a few angles. I will probably be making another out of foam to make the layup process easier. Wood is kinda heeeaaavvvy. Plus i am hoping to get some feedback from you guys about the design of it anyway. I also noticed in Monzter's IM he used diffusers inside it and that is another area i would like some advice about. Anyone with some ideas to keep flow even to all cylinders would be really appreciated. Matt
