  1. Wow, it has been a long time since I have added any updates to this project. 1. I switched from my '75 to a much cleaner '77. 2. I completely rebuilt the 82 Turbo engine, top to bottom and most components 3. I upgraded to a T3/T4 Hybrid turbo - liquid cooled center section 4. Just painted the engine bay. I was stuck on the idea of going back to code 110 - persimmon - which was the original color of my 75. 5. Upgraded brakes to 240sx in back, I have everything for the Toyota 4-Runner upgrade except the spacer. 6. I have an intercooler but no plumbing yet - patched up an old J-Pipe for now. 7. Non EGR N42 intake 8. Manual boost control 9. Limited Slip rear differential 10. New bushings all around 11. All drive components / suspension removed cleaned / primed then painted flat black I am sure there is a lot more I left out. My next steps 1. Get it running - still have to work out the wiring for this beast... (megasquirt to follow shortly) 2. Route intercooler plumping and add BOV 3. Get the rest of the car painted - it will be sand blasted and have any rust (this is Illinois so there is rust) removed and replaced with panels 4. Figure out the interior I guess...
  2. Before I go buying a bunch of new stuff I figured I would see what was out there first. 1. Megasquirt V2 ready to go - I am not willing to assemble. A harness would be nice but I can make my own. 2. Carpet kit for a late 77 which will cover the fender wells 3. Aluminum radiator 4. Intercooler piping for 2.75" 5. Rear brake conversion to 240sx - I just need brake line conversion 6. Spacer for 4 piston Toyota 4x4 caliper swap 7. Aluminum Flywheel I can buy all this new but just thought maybe a member might have this stuff in a pile in their garage. Let me know what you have. Please give me a shipped price to 62401. Thanks!
  3. I am in need of a fuel tank for my '77 280z. A '77 or '78 will do. Also, the fuel pump mount would be nice. I did not know that there was such a huge spare tire / gas tank change in '77 before switching from restoring my '75 to the '77. Let me know if anyone has what I need.
  4. Seen this nice 72 while surfing craigslist. http://terrehaute.craigslist.org/cto/2976071264.html
  5. Sorry, I miss read your post. I was getting non-stop pulsing from the negative feed. I have that problem fixed now.
  6. Same problem I am having on an old junker 83 turbo I just picked up. I am trying to find the culprit. Let us know if you find it.
  7. Time for a build post. This was my car back in 1999 or so after a quick paint job. I drove it until I hit 2 deer going 80mph back in 2002. I know, a stupid thing to do but hey, I was a kid. Too bad I did not take any pics then. After that the car sat inside my garage until last year. I started to do a little work on it here and there. I was going to just do a quick clean up and get it back on the road. But then I found a running 82zxt for $400. I now have all the goodies to make my car a turbo. Due to financial constraints (MBA way of saying poor), I am just doing the swap with no major upgrades right now. I am cleaning up everything and getting ready to get into the engine work soon. But first I have a few cancer spots to fix on my Z. It is pretty clean for being an IL car for all of its life but it still has rust under the battery. I started my stock Z engine for the last time today (I recorded it) then I pulled the engine. As of right now this is what I have finished. 1 - Interior is in good shape - seats recovered and repaired - door panels repaired 2 - floor pans replaced 3 - most major body work completed (remember, I hit 2 deer) 4 - cleaned / painted most engine components Next step(s) 1 - fix the cancer under the battery 2 - clean up engine bay and paint it 3 - engine work - top to bottom That is enough to do for now. If you care to see some of my cleaned up parts check out my flickr or photobucket page. I am no longer posting any new pics to flickr. At the very bottom is a walk around video of the car last year. Flickr reworked parts pics Photobucket (I will be adding more here) 2009 Z video
  8. When I ID a motor/car I just look it up in one of my handy books or check out these site Black Dragon - Page 7-8 if it does not go directly and for the engine I just do a search at this site and zcar.com and this is what I find. zcar.com motor ID Your car sounds to me like a n/a because of the H and the engine from before 81 due to the n42. Someone might be able to ID it better by using the numbers you listed.
  9. I had my tank coated by Moyer's Tanks, Inc. in Greensburg PA www.gas-tank.com This was a more than I wanted to pay but I went from a tank with a rust hole in it to one better than new. I also have a tank off of my 82 zxt but it would at least need a good dip cleaning at a local shop ($20 if you want it, you pay shipping from 62401). Your tank might just need a good cleaning as well but this is hit or miss in my opinion. I would make sure whoever looked at it did it for free.
  10. Yes, I have a BOV off of an early 90s Eagle Talon lined up. I have not yet seen the condition of it. If the BOV is not what I want or I cannot get it to work properly I will put the pressure relief back in. I think I have read that using the stock computer will mean I have to route the BOV back into the system. I plan to go with some sort of fuel mgmt system in the future but for now I am using what I have. Thanks for the warning none the less!
  11. I'm a Z car part hoarder I think. I cannot let any of it go.

  12. I have been working on cleaning up my 82 zxt intake and first thought I would keep everything the way it was and just get a theme going. After I got it all cleaned up it looked like this After I bolted it on I was not 100% happy so it was back to the search function. After reading several posts and looking at Gollum's Pic of his intake, I figured I would also go the "block off plate" route. (still needs plugged) I just have one question. The copper colored outlet under the AAC that goes over to a connector then over to the air regulator, should I remove / drill / tap it or just cap it? It seems to be stuck in place. I tried removing it but did not get anywhere without using super force. Tips? (looks like Gollum capped) I do not want to file the intake down as some people did just in case I have to slap parts back on it to pass an inspection if IL should ever have one. I could use a non EGR intake but do not want to take it off my running 75 engine. I know I am not gaining anything but looks by doing this. No cold start in IL will not be a problem since my Z always sits in a heated garage and I never plan to drive it in bad weather. Picture of deleted items.
