Hi everyone. Been lurking and researching on the forum for a while now, and I figured its about time I post some pictures of my own.
After looking for quite a long time, I finally found a Z about a year ago that was a good enough deal that I couldn't pass it up. This thing was rotting away in a field in Arkansas. It had blown a head gasket about 10 years earlier and had sat since then. Picked it up for $300.
Floor boards were completely gone, but other than a few little pockets here or there, it is fairly rust free
One of the two tires that would (sorta) hold air blew out about 15 miles into the journey home. I rarely say this, but thank god for walmart. Everywhere else was closed on a Sunday afternoon.
After squeezing it into my tiny apartment one car garage, the first thing to do was to pull the engine and move all the other stuff that I wont be needing for awhile to storage to give myself a little room to work. I wont be needing the engine or transmission since they will be replaced with an LSx motor, and its a good thing too because everything on the inside of the engine was rusted to sh*t because of all the water sitting in there for so long. Lots of parts are still good though (carbs, intake, transmission) so if anyone needs something let me know. I would give the transmission to anyone that wanted to pick it (Memphis, TN) up so I dont have to fool with it.
After that I tackled the floor pans. I decided to go ahead and make my own instead of spending money on a kit. I also wanted to build a subframe of sorts to help strengthen the passenger compartment, give me somewhere strong to attach a roll cage to in case I ever decide to go that route (not in the current plans), and give me a good easy mounting location for the 350z seats that I picked up.
Thats about it for now. Ive got the rear suspension pulled off, and need to do a little refurb work before I reinstall that. Ill post more pictures when I get somewhere with it.
Any comments welcomed.
