Ok, i want to get a few questions out at once, so here goes
I have a 1978 Datsun 280z, and i am just finishing up boxing the rails and painting it, coating the underbody. I have been trying to get an L28et for quite a while now but no dice, they are not common in Calgary. Si i have decided to pull my motor, and while its out blast my engine bay, paint it as well, replace all the body electricals and bend a custom fuel system for the car, as well as add a fuel Cell. Now, from NWME i can get an L28 engine rebuild kit (Gaskets, Pistons, Rings, Bearings, Seals ect, ect) for under $500 Canadian, so i was wanting to know if its a solid idea to do a complete tear down and rebuild of my L28, get new injectors, a fuel rail, a 3" exhaust system, and some other mild bolt ons, including a ported and cleaned up intake manifold, and a bigger TB. In a short time i want to Turbocharge this motor, i think with the rebuild kit it will be more than strong enough to take about 10psi of boost, but i want to know if the Turbo exhaust manifold will bolt to the head, and how well my ported/polished head will react with boost. Also, i relize i would havto run a stand alone system, thats not a problem because i can get a good discount on one from my local parts store, has anyone run stand alone on there turboed L28?
Thanks for reading the post, if you have any suggestions for me, i would appreciate the help.
