  1. Thanks for the info. Seems strange that EU springs would be shorter than US. I wrote MSA about the same issue - hoping they have some additional info. I'm considering cutting a coil off. But i wan't to exhaust every non-destructive option before i do I actually contacted Eibach USA, MSA and posted on HybridZ to find out which spring goes in the front and which goes in the rear (see this thread). The conclusion was longer springs in front - shorter springs in the rear. But depending on what info MSA can give me on the issue i'm definetly going to try and mount the shorter ones in front and see how that works out. Thanks again.
  2. Hi Ryan That was my first thougt aswell. Unfortunately that wasn't the problem. Thanks for your suggestion though
  3. I am in the process of lowering my '73 240Z. My problem is that the Eibach Progressive Springs im installing actually makes the car sit 0.4" higher than the springs that are allready on it. I am 100% sure that the Eibach's are mounted correctly (see this thread), but i can't quite figure out what the problem is. I know that my car i a European model from birth - but i don't know if there are any differences between US and EU stock suspension that would cause this issue. Picture explanation - Nose of car pointing to the right: Car stance with springs that were allready on the car when i bought it. Notice also how the wheel is not centered in the wheel arches. Picture explanation - Nose of car pointing to the left: Car stance with Eibach springs (2.4" of space from top of tire and fender). Notice how the wheel is slightly more centered in the wheel arches. Anybody out there experience this before or have any advice both regarding the centering issue and the height issue? Thanks so much for any help or advice in advance. Best regards Jeppe
  4. Hi Guys Thanks so much for the replies - i really appreciate it. Sounds like it should be a straight forward transplant. I'm going to see if i can find a 81-83 280ZX transmission somewhere. I've been having trouble with 1st and 3rd gear crunching - especially when shifting fast during acceleration etc. I'm pretty shure it's caused by it going in to both gears at the same time. So instead of getting someone to redo my old transmission, i would go for a more modern one if i can find it. Thanks again
  5. Hi I want to replace the original 5-speed transmission on my stock L24 1973 240Z. I have noticed that a lot of HybridZ members are running 280ZX transmission on their 240Z. My question is then. Will a 280ZX transmission bolt straight on to the stock L24 without any modification at all? I have been doing a bit of research and from the pictures i found it looks like the 280ZX transmission is just a little shorter than the 240Z transmission. I'm trying to find a "bolt on" solution so that i can keep the engine and drive shaft stock. Not to mention cheap. Any help from anyone with 280ZX -> 240Z transmission transplant experience will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance. Have a great weekend. Best regards Jeppe
  6. Maybe 260z springs are different from 240z. Did you contact MSA about it?
  7. Hi Guys Just got a reply from both Jay at MSA and Abel at Eibach to confirm lowriders info. Jay / MSA: Abel / Eibach: Strange that they don't include this information in the packaging.
  8. I wrote an email to Eibach USA and MSA with the same question. Hopefully they will respond with the same answer. I will post here when they do. SteveZ - would you mind reporting your results when you have completed installing them? Thanks in advance.
  9. I sure will Here's some pictures i took last summer for the the insurance agency. As you can see the car sits pretty high. I'm not sure if it's stock suspension or not. Anybody know what type of wheels these are? I haven't seen them on a Z before. Thanks again.
  10. Hi lowrider Thank you so much for your help - i really appreciate it. I will pass it on to my car guy. Have a great weekend.
  11. Hi 240zBoy Thanks for your reply. Are you talking from personal experience or best guess? I really need to be sure what goes where as i will not be installing them myself and don't want to be double charged because i gave my mechanic wrong instructions. Thanks again.
  12. Hi I bought this Eibach kit from MSA (MSA 6305.140) for my 1973 Datsun 240Z a while back. I'm having trouble determining which springs go in the front and which goes in the rear of the car. I'm hoping someone can help me. There are two shorter springs marked: 260968 / 6305.202 and there are two longer springs marked: 245257 / 6305.001 Thanks so much in advance for your help. UPDATE: Answer found: Thanks in particular to lowrider, but also Eibach and MSA. Click here for info Best regards Jeppe
  13. Hi Letitsnow Thanks so much for the advice - i'll run it by my car guy. Hopefully it is not to big of an "operation". Best regards Defogedal
  14. Hi I recently bought a 5 speed manual '73 240z with a stock L24 and tranny. As i have not experienced this problem with any of my previous cars before i thought some of you guys might be able to help me. I'm having having a problem when i try to quick shift from 2nd to 3rd gear - e.g. during hard accelaration. Take a look at the attached illustration. Fig. 1: when i shift from 2nd to 3rd in a diagonal pattern it results i the gears grinding. Fig. 2: When i shift from 2nd to 3rd by pushing the gearlever straight up (towards 1st) letting it settle in neutral and then put it into 3rd there's no problem. Any suggestions as to what might be the problem? Thanks so much in advance Best regards Degofedal
