  1. I'll give you mine if you want to come get it, but the car is in Auburn, Washington. I would only give it to you to cover the costs of getting it down to you and make sure it's in caring hands. Clean title, 1970 240z with an early-ish VIN.
  2. Thanks Paz.. The vehicle the motor is currently in is a '72 Chev pickup, so it's probably the same motor the pickup came with. I guess to make this a two part thread.. When you put #1 cyl at TDC on the compression stroke, should the points on the timing chain gear and the cam gear be facing eachother (cam gear top, timing gear bottom), or both facing up (cam gear up, timing gear up)? I hear on later engines, the point on the timing gear should be facing upward..?
  3. Thanks for the link.. Reading that, I can tell the engine was made in michigan on April 23rd.. Didn't find a "00" suffix code though, and still have no idea what the "H" is for.
  4. Does anyone have a good resource to tell me what an engine is from if i give the number casted into it? The number from the front of the engine is: VH042300 The engine is a 350 Chevrolet V8, but I'm unsure of the year. Tried to google search engine casting identification number, but came up with different looking numbers. Thanks!
  5. Anyone have Marc's contact name on here? Or email?
  6. Good responses. Might be worth going through getting the car running after all. Special thanks to J for making the search that much easier. Don't see that too much on forums. Thanks everyone.
  7. It's bad enough to just replace the engine with a vh45de.. I just thought it was a crazy thing to see.. To the guy who saw it with the mitsu, that a result of the infamous "crank walk" of the 4g63?
  8. Tore down my L6 the other week, to replace timing equipment, and found this: Apologies for the bad image quality. The crank keyway looked like it was chipped/chunked out by the key itself, or some other means. I've never seen this before.. Just wondering if you have?
  9. Just to add a technical resource to the thread, here's something I found at NICOclub.com.. It's current, ongoing collaborative knowledge surrounding the VH45/VH41 http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/202616 A thread similar to this might be something to consider making a sticky in the future..
  10. It is small on the port side, but rather large on the entrance. I should target this manifold more to L20 owners?
  11. I have the same on my 280z and they have "Ultra" center caps. I imagine center caps are interchangable though, so I can't be sure.
  12. Do you have a digital camera in that tool bag?
  13. I'll try to measure them tonight. They are disassembled from the manifold anyway, so it shouldn't be a problem. They need a rebuild and one of them is already torn apart. All parts are there, however, and in good shape. Jon, didn't realize you were so local. Good to see someone from seattle. Would be nice to get a meet going when the weather isn't sub freezing. Thanks all, for the information.
  14. Thanks for the input guys.. I bought a wrecked 1991 Q45 for 700 dollars in running and driving condition. (good enough deal?) Even if I don't do the swap, I should make a profit parting it out, or reselling it. I'm going to go to a trusted local aluminum welder/race car builder and see what he says about mating the T56 bellhousing to the back of that engine. It looks like the only thing that might hold me up on this project is the funds and motivation to wrench in the cold after going to work for 10 hours. In any case, the project has started, and I hope to keep you all updated as events happen. If you have anymore information, please let me know. Thanks, Barrett PS: When is next years Motorsport Auto Z meet? It'd be nice to have a deadline..
  15. I have a set of triple Mikunis for sale locally. I believe they are the kind with Solex in bigger writing. Not really too sure which ones though or what size though. In any case, I have a few buyers interested and was wondering, from a trusted Z resource, what they are worth with a Sanyo manifold and a set of triple K&N filters with chrome housings in very beautiful condition. Carbs need a rebuild and manifold has no linkage. Not really looking for a "how much you'd pay personally", but more of a "how much are they worth to someone that wants them". Thanks in advance, Barrett
