  1. Ultimately I had to program my car to always run in open loop. The rational is that my cam is large enough to throw off the readings at the O2 sensors. It works great for me, but I can’t say if you need to go this route as well.
  2. They are indeed 280Z strut housings. Although it looks like one piece because it uses all four bolts instead of just three of them like most adapters, there is a Maxima/280ZX brake adapter bolted to it.
  3. I’m going to upgrade my rear brakes and I’m a little confused with my current setup. I got this from @Tim240zmany years ago and I believe the rear strut housings are from a 280Z and the calipers from a 79 - 81 280ZX, but instead of a bolt on adapter the bracket for mounting the caliper appears to be an integrated part of the strut housing itself. Of course I can cut these off, but I ‘d like to know what I have first.
  4. The front is mocked up and I’m very happy with my KT4 Performance air suspension so far. Fully aired out I have about 3/4” clearance to the inner fender. About 2” clear @ around 80 PSI and about 2.5” @ 100 PSI. Including a short video of airing it out and it’s best with audio on 😆 IMG_2063.mov
  5. I received my struts and I believe they come from the same manufacturer that create BC coilovers. I’ve attached an image of the struts and the bag of miscellaneous items and it looks very similar to what I’ve seen of how BC coilovers are shipped and the adjustment knob on top. The company it shipped from is SF Racing in Taiwan. If someone has BC coilovers maybe they can chime in on the similarities. Either way, they look good and I’ll be test fitting soon. From what I’ve seen regarding the installation of BC coilovers you leave about 1.75” of the lower strut tube, but I’m being told by KT4 I should only leave between 2 - 3 cm. No instructions were included, but I asked and received the attached image. Upon inspection of the struts it appears if I left 1.75” it would interfere with the bottom of the shock at low settings
  6. I won’t know until after installation about the handling, but I suspect that if handling is most important than springs would be better. The thing for me is being able to maintain a nice low ride height with the ability to raise the car for driveways and speed bumps and such, and put it extra low when parking.
  7. The struts have been built and should arrive this week
  8. The springs on the coilovers are replaced with bags
  9. I haven’t posted on HybridZ in quite a while, but I still have my Z and I’ve attached some fairly recent pictures to this post. My car has gone through several iterations over the years and I’m starting another one now. I’m going to install air suspension from a company called KT4 Performance as well as changing to ZTrix fenders (Subtle Z on the front and 280YZ with wheel lips ala Dan Juday). I know there’s been many posts about air suspension, but I haven’t seen one follow through with documenting an installation, so I will do that on this thread for anyone that’s interested.
  10. My car is garage kept, but the leather dash and console still look great!
  11. Just thought I would post up the results of my quest for wide fender flares that suited my taste and budget. After a long search I thought I would go with Fiberglass Mafia Z-Speed Flares, but once I got them I decided I wanted more flare on the rear side and less on the front. I finally figured out if I purchase another set I could take the front part of the rear flares of the extra set and graft them onto the rear part of the front flares of the original set, and the front part of the front flares of the extra set and graft them onto the rear part of the rear flares of the original set. Confused yet? Hopefully the images will help. It took much more work than I originally expected, but am very happy with the results.
  12. Good luck with the sale, it will be a great car for someone!
  13. $500 located in Corona, CA If you're looking for the widest wheels that can tuck under stock fenders on an S30, this may be for you. They will require fender rolling, 5 lug conversion, coilovers, and spacers, but all the info is available on this site in a detailed post I created. Here are the F1R F23 wheel spec's:. 18x8.5 +38 front and 18x9.5 +20 rear. Tires are Falken Azenis FK453s with at least 80% tread remaining 245/40 front and 275/35 rear. I really don't want to ship, so looking for local pickup around Corona, CA. I also still have the 4 lug wheels that I posted about before I switched over to 5 lugs. Only issue is a dent in one of the chrome trim rings. I'm going with flares, so I have no need for these anymore.
  14. Not sure about the rebranding issue, but from my experience fitment isn't the best. The guy that owns the brown Z had a body shop do his install and I seem to recall him telling me that it took alot of work to make them work. I haven't used anyone else's flares so i can't compare, but maybe it's common to need a lot of work to make flares fit well on our beloved older Z's?
