  1. We have an 81 turbo 280. We also have a brand new 82 turbo distributer. The 81 works off a crank angle trigger on the crank pulley and the 82 is internal to the distributer but both have the same plug. Is it possible to just put the 82 dizzy on the 81 car?
  2. hmmm, spending all that time to swap in a 100hp 5.0 sounds like a blast
  3. We just tuned an 82 280ZX turbo on E85. We just removed the old injectors and replaced them with 370cc injectors from a CA18DET and replaced all the fuel lines with Goodyear and Aeroquip hose and a walbro 255 fuel pump. Started up and ran great. You have to tune it using Lambda not A/F, just makes it a little easier. We tuned it for .78 lambda under WOT and 1 lambda for cruising and idle. Stioch for E85 is 9.7:1, so if you multiply your Lambda by 9.7 you can get your Airfuel ratio. So under WOT we were running 7.5:1 A/F. Best part, Running 18psi and a 55 shot of nitrous on the stock turbo, 299whp and 499ft lbs. We are running an TH350 auto trans and that does afect the torque a bit. We tuned it on 100 octane trick fuel and the best we got was 270whp and 449 ft lbs. This was also on a Mustang Dyno which typically reads about 15% lower than a dynojet. Good luck, and I will keep the board updated on any disolving gaskets or what not.
  4. Dont forget to tell them you thats with you launching off the transbrake with your foot still on the foot brake and shifting from 1st to 3rd cuz your too lazy to pull your tranny and have second gear fixed:burnout:
  5. I tuned an EVO on the dyno last week and it made 546whp and 390 ft lbs, so I know its not reading hi torque numbers.
  6. Well I can see why he is confused but if the sweet spot for torque on your engine is 2200-2700 like on the L28 and you dont see boost till 3500-4000 your torque will end up being a little lower than usual. He is also running a large intake manifold with short runners which will also kill torque.
  7. I'll have to post the dyno sheet so you can see how the auto trans makes power, Im talking almost completely flat power curve.
  8. I cant figure out why it wont make any more HP. We just put new Rings and rod bearings, Metal head gasket and ARP studs in it along with the Cam and intercooler. We dyno'd on a Dynojet before the mods and it made 225hp and 278 ft lbs on the same boost. The Mustang dyno does read quite a bit lower than the Dynojet just by comparing other cars though. The whole time were tuning Im adjusting the regulator and boost and it only increasing torque, the HP was going up but just a few HP each boost level. I think I'll try and search around on here and try to find dynos of other stock turbo L28s.
  9. Went to tune a freinds 82 280ZX. Were running a TH350 trans in it and we had a little trouble making boost on a dynojet because of the stall. So we went to a local Mustang dyno and got some pretty interesting numbers. Mods are as listed. L28 turbo Huge FMIC, 24x12x4 Custom intercooler pipes Upgraded turbo cam from Z car parts Z31 turbo Halman boost controller Billet fuel rail Walbro 255 inline pump A/C, PS and Clutch Fan deleted 240SX 60mm Throttle body Adjustable Fuel pressure regulator TH350 trans with 4000 stall and transbrake Adapter plate by Thagard Stock ECU and injectors The way I did the intercooler pipes didnt allow me to run a filter so I just have a screen over the end of the MAF which cause the car to run rich. After a few pulls on the dyno, running max boost of 16.9 and it tapered to 13 psi by redline we got 226hp and 409 ft lbs of torque. Thing feels like your driving a pretty fast desiel truck. Anything over 226 hp it would lean out quite a bit. But right at 16-17 psi it held a pretty flat 11.8-12.0 AFR. It didnt hold the 400 ft lbs all the way across but still had about 275 by redline. I will post up the dyno sheet later today.
  10. I just installed ACTs NEW 6 puck sprung setup with an HD pressure plate on a SR 240SX and its really quite smooth and not very hard on your calf. I like the CLUTCHNET 6 puck sprung disk better because the springs are caged in a cant pop out. You might need to see pics to understand.
  11. Follow anyones SR20 instructions and they will be the same, minus the turbo part. It will use the same mounts and driveshaft also.
  12. Any body know if someone has tried to put a Ford 300ci Straite 6 into a Z? I can pick up all the parts for cheap including a Mustang 5.0 5 speed which might make for a fun car. Ive looked at prices on parts and there super cheap and for very little money you make make a real torqe monster.
