Default VQ35DE in a datsun z

Hi I just wanted to know if it is possible to put a 350z VQ35DE in a 240z, 260z or a 280z.
Thanks.

with enough money and skill just about anything can fit in a Z. some swaps are cheaper than others, but just about anything can be done. hell i've seen V12s put in a z. it isn't cheap, it isn't easy, and cutting has to be done, but it can be done.

Stock that would be true... it can be designed to handle boost like any other engine out there.

The VQ35 does power the fastest Nissan in the world by the way...

The page is under construction at the moment but here's the link: http://www.theexperience.com/recordrun.htm

Here's a stock internal 10.9 second 350Z as well: http://videos.streetfire.net/search/...1120db7c47.htm

The VQ series engines are not weak, they are actually quite incredible. They have been using a twin turbo VQ series engine in place of the RB26 in newer Skyline race cars and have been doing very well. Basically, it can be boosted and it can make some incredible power. On top of that it is very light weight and compact making it even better than the VG and RB imo.

If anybody's interested I'm selling a complete VQ35DE/ 6speed tranny swap package (less ECU/wiring)! I have it in my 240sx but it would be a perfect package to drop into a Z.

http://www.engineswaptech.com/forums...read.aspx#1856

It's also in the forsale section here on hybrid z.

Thanks,
Fred

But they seem to require a replacement of the stock cylinder liners, otherwise blown head gaskets. Although it seems impossible to get sound first hand info on them.

And the weight, are they really that much lighter than a twin cam VG with its surplus removed?

I know going from the VG30E and VE30DE, the VQ30DE is at least 100 lbs lighter. The VG30DETT is even heavier than the VG30E so the VQ would be a lot lighter than the VG-DE.

Stock the VQ35 is an open deck block so they have to add those liners to strengthen it. Once you do that they are very strong. The VG's are closed deck blocks so you don't have to worry about that. The open deck crap is simply due to more ridiculous emissions rules.

Default Need 350Z passenger side Nismo header

I am putting a VQ35DE and 6sp 350Z tranny in a 280Z body. Lots of modifications but I think we are going to be successful. Right now I am in need of a right side NISMO header for a 350Z. I picked up a left side, but still need a right side. Anyone happend to have a right side header?
