Hi everyone, I recently purchased a '72 240z and was able to grab a 1jz out of a soarer with an automatic transmission localy for relatively cheap. With that being said I'll be posting pictures and asking questions as time goes on. So what better time to ask than the present. Pictures will follow shortly. Has anyone been able to use an automatic transmission on there 240 1jz build, and if so how did you make the connection with the wiring harness? I was hoping to get a complete wiring harness but can't find a supplier who makes them for automatic transmissions.
Although in the USA and Australia there are a huge amount of Hybrid Z cars, in the UK most S30 chassis cars have rusted away and the rarity of them now means that swapping big power and exotic engines is a rarity. My car is a UK spec 1975 260Z 2+2 that has been painted and welded enough times that it is is far enough from original for me not to worry about the purist route. That and the fact that is it a 2+2! I wanted to start a thread on here for advise from people who have done this many times and hopefully a UK project will be interesting even though I am covering the same ground many people on here already have. I bought a crashed JDM Toyota Soarer over Christmas and stripped it for the engine, fuel tank, looms, gearbox (W58 as it was a converted auto) etc. The original L26 is out and sold and work has started to strip the engine bay of everything so we can sand blast it and begin the engine swap with a view to making it look as clean and factory as possible. I will upload some pictures soon when I have worked out the best way of doing it.
Hi all I would like a quick run down of the wiring schematic or any kind of help to get this 1jz started outside of the car. Came with all wiring stock from factory as well as ECU. ECU has four plugs and is a jzx100 motor. Etcs What wires do I need to hook up to get this baby to run
I have a 1jzgte vvvti is out of a toyota chaser and when I bought the motor and R154 that came with it it did not have a fuse box. The harness is cut like you can see in the pictures. What do I do in terms of fusing this thing? I have seen the other threads with the pinouts and what each wire does however I don't know what fuse boxes will work. Luckily I have the igniter. I'm installing the motor in a 1972 Datsun 240z. Fuses and relays are what is keeping me from finishing this thing. Help if you can. Thanks.
