  1. I have a 240z with rebuilt E88 head, rebuilt dome top su carbs and I just went from stock manifold with 2.5” exhaust pipe and cherry bomb muffler to a header. I kept the pipe and muffler as the weren’t stock anyway, I just added a flexible connection from the collector to the existing exhaust pipe. Actually now I wish I didn’t do this modification. It’s really noisy and I’m not sure that moving away from the OEM cast iron exhaust manifold was a good idea. It seemed to do the job... any comment on the performance improvements or lack there of? One other point - within 6 months I had a fuel leak right over the header pipes even with all new fuel lines. It totally cooked the new fuel lines from the float bowls to the jets. They were cracking and perished. Dangerous. I have since replaced the SU carb fuel lines with correct parts, and modified the heat shield with an additional aluminum plate which sits under the fuel hoses/jets. I also added some heat wrapping to the fuel lines. Makes tuning more of a chore, but gives me peace of mind. Anyone have a solution to the header noise issue? Add a resonator? Change the muffler to a better one? I can tig/mig weld so would buy parts online and do the install myself. I’m not a boy racer (nearly 60) and it sounds like an F1 car now when I put my foot down. For Sale: Used MSA 3-2 Header, Square Ports, No Smog Fittings for 70-76 240z-260z-280z, comes with 2.5" piping, and rubber mounting brackets already welded on and drilled, connected to a 2.5" Magnaflow muffler. Location: Southern CA, San Diego area. Local pickup only, sorry. Price: $150 Reason for selling: I purchased the system to use temporarily until my current headers were finished and installed, no longer need them now. I purchased the MSA 3-2 header from Motorsport!, installed it back in April of 2016, and took them off on the 7th of Sept. I put around 500 miles through them, you'll see in the pictures there is a small amount of rust but nothing serious (you'll have to clean them and get them powder coated). The welding was done by Richards Performance Muffler in Oceanside, CA. If you've never heard a Magnaflow exhaust, they're amazingly nice. Sounds like a V8/old race car. So about 6 months ago I was out of town and got a call from a friend telling me that I was getting fine notices for not registering my 240z which I had been working on (It is an early 1973 240z currently completely stock). I told my friend to take it down to the muffler shop and have them throw on an exhaust just to get it passing inspection; well my friend knew nothing about cars and It showed when he was talking to the muffler shop because they overcharged him/me and put on one of the cheapest most restrictive exhausts you could imagine (1 3/4 in pipe, cheap restrictive muffler, non mandrel bent pipe, and they slapped it on to the rusty manifold). I have been driving it since because I need it as a daily driver but now is the time to change it because I can tell that my engine hates it. This is were my dilemma sets in. I want to put an l28 into my car because the l24 is starting to give out on me and I am tired of putting in lead substitute everytime I refill costing and extra 10 dollars. I also want my 240z to be running until I have rebuilt the l28 and it is time to drop it in, but with the exhaust It is becoming more difficult to drive. I would like to put a header on the l24 and new 2 1/4 pipe all the way through the car. However I am building on a budget and would like to reuse the exhaust once I drop the l28 in. I have heard that the E88 (my current head) and the P90 (my soon to be l28 head with flat-top pistons) have the same square exhaust ports. Will a header built to fit an E88 fit on to a P90 head, and will the rest of the l24 exhaust fit under the car after the engine swap? Thank you, I hope this all made sense
  5. For sale is my 1974 Datsun 260z. The previous owner in Dallas had it set up primarily as an autocross car. I've owned it 2 years but only driven it a few hundred miles and have done very little with it. It has always run strong and the sound of the dual exhaust will send chills down your spine on the overrun. The car is currently registered as a vintage vehicle I'm asking $4000 obo. L28 Block 4 speed installed (5 speed included too) N42 Head Mild cam Cartech 4 barrel Intake Holley 4 barrel carb 6-3-2 header Dual 2" exhaust to glasspacks New battery Unknown brand coilovers Locked R180 diff 14in Iron Cross wheels Fresh Falken 195/60/14 tires CD Player No A/C Bucket seats 5 point harnesses Smoothed rear bumper Right now the car has a broken diff mount from the locked diff the p/o installed. It drives fine but is a little clunky. I'm including a 5 speed transmission/R180/new diff mount if you would like to swap it out. Paint is in reasonably good shape with a few chips here and there.
