    Bigger Air Filter = Better?

I put this in the "turbo" section cus I didn't see any other appropriate place, but it probably applies to the turbo somehow. I have a 1978 280z with an '82 L28ET engine. It is stock everything except for an added oil cooler. I currently have a SUPER DIRTY K&N air filter that sits in front of my radiator via some custom piping. I think the previous owner put this on in 2004 and hasn't changed it since, so I decided I would just get a new one rather than try to clean it (see below). I found the current filter online: https://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?prod=RE-0910 However, I found a very similar but slightly larger filter below it: https://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?prod=RE-0810 The second filter is about an inch longer and an inch wider at the base. However, it will definitely fit in the current space, so it would be very easy to swap to this size. Is it worth it to buy the slightly bigger size? Are there performance benefits/downsides, or will I not even notice this small of a difference?

  14. I am savign up to get an engine to drop in my 73 240z. At first i wanted an ls1 to drop in, but i am now leaning toward getting an lq4. that being siad, does anyone have experice with this swap, knowledge about crucial elements i will need to know. first question being how hard is it to swap an ls6 intake onto the lq4. SHould i consider getting a Fast intake instead of an ls6 intake? will the fast intake fit under a stock hood? if so, what size do i need to get. also what other stuff is intailed in the swap?i hve been doing researh and have bits and pieces of informaton, but am still a little confused on the whole swap i am planning on pairing this with a t56 tranny. any info will help. please... i need help
  15. Hello there z people: I was replacing the manifold gasket, and remembered some very nice pictures of shaved and polished intakes you have around here, pretty clean works, so i couldn't resist imagining it on my z he he! So i went crazy with a hacksaw on it and cut the egr, pcv, cold start, etc... then cut sheet aluminum pieces out of the blades of an old v8 fan i had lying around and welded them in place with a tic welder. the intake started to look nicer and so i followed with the next step, ...polishing it..... THATS WHERE THE NIGHTMARE BEGINS!! LOL i been polishing the thing for almost 2 weeks and im nowhere close to the finishes i seen here! Hands down to all those z lads who did this themselves! they have my deepest respect Well, here are a couple pictures of the intake so far: Every tip and advice is well recieved, CHEERS!
