Yes, they are GTR R33 rims but modified. I sent them in to a wheel specialist who actually designs & makes his own Wheels.

I told him I wanted the R33 centres cut out & positioned into the new inner & outer 17"bands to my desired measurements, 17 x 8 with 245/45/17 fronts & 17 x 10 with 275/40/17's for the rear), this way I would have a nice deep dish.

Once finished, I had them blasted, powder coated black, 7 then sprayed them in a satin look finish. The centre cap is from a Z32 300ZX, perfect fit.

Basically the car was built around the wheel & tyre package.

Schlasken,

Are you asking about the flare that is screwed in place or the whole new look of the rear 1/4 panel?

The bolt on type are aftermarket fibreglass available here in Australia.

The other, I made myself.

The reason I bought the bolt on type was to get the required distance out over the wheels & give me an ending edge to work with.

As you can see by the pics I needed something to start with to shape the rear 1/4 panel. The front will cop the same treatment.

I think the as the saying goes, "If you have to ask, you can't afford it!" LOL :D Sorry Stony, but I couldn't resist--nothing against you, man.

The work on this car is exceptional and I like where it is headed too. Only, it needs a twin turbo V8, then it would be purrrfect. :2thumbs:

Stoney & DavyZ,

It's not so much the cost that's scarey, it's the time involved in making them. I've spent at least 50 hours on each side trying to achieve the required shape & I still haven't finshed. But for curiosities sake, I'd say I spent about $700AUS on materials alone.

Now I have to do the same to the fronts, more money & more time.

Twin turbo V8? I'm not on a death wish, & besides, there ain't nothin purrrfect in this world.

Nick.

how much did it cost to have your wheels modified by the wheel specialist you mentioned? i LOVE those wheels. what offset are they?

could you also give some details about your suspension and brake mods? ie, tell us about your coilovers (manufacturer, spring rates, sectioned or not?, etc), what you used for 5 lug conversion, what brake system, etc.

sorry to ask for so much in a single post.... i'm really liking the direction you are going in with your car. exceptional work!! i think using the sr20 is very awesome, too!! :2thumbs::2thumbs::2thumbs:

Sorry Stoney & the rest, I misread the question, everyone seems to be asking about the flares.

Anyway, the wheels cost me all up around $2500AUS without tyres.

Suspension wise I have shortened the strut tubes & they now have externally adjustable Koni's from VW Golf in the front & Celica GT4 in the rear, spring are 150 ponders at the moment.

For the 5 lug conversion I used the Z31 turbo front hubs (slip staight on) & for the rear I used Z31 turbo axles (modified).

Brakes up front are Z32 TT with Mitsubishi GTO TT discs & rear is local Ford Falcon disc set up.

I did a write up on my project for the Z club that I'm a member of in here in Sydney, it might be easier if I sent it to one of you and you could post it for everyone to read, I don't know how to add a pic etc so one of you might be able to help, anyone want to put their hand up?

nick, i'd be happy to help. send it to me and i'll post it somewhere and link to it on this thread.

and thanks for the details i asked for!! as far as the price you gave for the wheels, that's really not bad at all for what you got, especially considering the modifications. i'd be completely willing to spend that on the same wheels... you've got me thinking about calling your wheel specialist :D :D

thanks again for answering my questions and i look forward to reading the write up on your project.

I've been thinking about a dash swap for a long time, especially since my dash is so messed up, even the glove box door is falling out! I can actually see the back of my center gauges from through the windshield!

What did it take to mount the 240sx dash in there? I have noticed they have similar dimensions, but didn't think that they were close enough to swap. Looks like they are, what did you have to modify?

thanks!

Al

Al,

The dash had to be cut down heaps, especially along the windscreen edge to get the right curve & to get it to sit behind the steering wheel.

The sides also had to be cut down. It's quite a headache because I had to make new heater vents for the screen & also brackets to mount the dash & 200SX heater/ fan etc. Thing is though, no air conditioning (just adds to the weight)

This dash is from the 1994 to 2000 model.

Just went to the web link, much appreciated, don't know how you did it , this computer stuff is all Greek to me, you could say I'm computer illiterate.

I'll e-mail you direct with more photo's.

Once again, THANX.

I doubt Al needs AC since he lives in one of the wettest states of the Union :D

Trick car, Nick, and thanks for sharing. The work on the wheels seems like a fair price to pay IMO. I kind of expected that, but you get what you pay for. Nice work so far :2thumbs:
