Anyone running S13 Stance coilovers on their s30?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering if anyone is running Stance coilovers on their S30? I can get the SuperSports for about $1000. I was also looking at Megan tracks but I can't make up my mind. I want a good performing coilover but I also want to go low without using fender flares. Thanks for the help!

I just got my super sports in this weekend. So far so good, I honestly dont love them as much as my old tien super drifts/he's coilovers i previously had on my old s13. Different car I know. Overall the car feels more solid with these on. I used the adapter tubes i purchased as a group buy here on hybridz for stance coilovers. On my s30, 1973 240z I had to modify the adapter tubes because for some reason they were way too long. The adapter tubes were then sectioned to about 6 1/2 inches total in the rear, and the front I decided not to modify just yet. When you do get around to installing these, if you plan on getting the super sports, I would recommend using the front brackets that come with the super sport from stance. They are now made from steel and should fit over the stock strut, being steel you should be able to weld these right on in, do this if you want to go low. My car as of now isn't as low as I want it to be, but Ill eventually section my strut adapters again once i get the right tires I want on my car. Let me know if you have any other questions. Where are you getting the stance coilovers if you dont mind me asking? Thats a pretty good price, I ended up paying a total of 1200 shipped from the east coast to west for the super sport plus(which includes the helper spring in the rear).

I would personally go with stance to answer your question. Ive driven on megan's and stances both on a s13 and I prefer the stances. Not saying the megan's wont work, I just liked how the stances rode compared to the megans. The strut length on the stances should make it go pretty low as well, how low do you plan on lowering your car?

Frankist, thanks man! I'm getting them off craigslist from this shop in Fremont, CA, he said to come with cash, hopefully it's not a scam.

I was planning on sectioning my struts but I was thinking about having the adapters machined at a shop, not sure if this would be the best way though?

Also did you use weld on camber plates? Again thanks for the input!

I did weld on the camber plates up top that i got from a member here. I should be able to take pictures this weekend of how it all worked out on my car. Ill recheck as well to see if the mounts that are supplied with the coilovers for the front will fit over the stock strut, it should, but ill recheck.

I have Stance on my 280z. I don't have it lowered much though because I still need to get the exhaust done. It drives well though. Stance now makes zinc plated threads on the damper, so make sure you get those otherwise you're going to have rust issues on the threads.

Looks good Christine! I just picked up a set a couple weeks ago. Still waiting on some parts but I hope to get them in at the end of the month. I was windering about them rusting out on me, but I think the ones I got are coatedbecause the threads are super smooth and doesnt feel like bare metal. I hope.haha

I got the GR+ for the s13 (which now looks like Stance changed the name to "Super Sport +") spring rates are 8k/6k and in my opinion it's a nice ride. Not too stiff (I have dampening set in the middle) and not too soft. I've been in much stiffer suspension setups and I hate it! I think it fits well with the s30 if you like comfortable. I haven't put it on the highest dampening yet, I probably will once my flares and wheels are on, I'll let you know how it feels then.

If they are coated, the threads will look silver, not gold. You'll know right away.

If they're not, I wouldn't worry, just make sure you put some grease on the exposed threads every so often so they don't rust. Mine are not coated either, I'm sure it's gonna be awhile before the non-coated ones get sold out of circulation.

Yea devil what the heck!haha All kidding aside you would have to weld in strut bars. I was thinking of fabbing a bracket to weld on that I can bolt the basr to. I'm sure prople have ways around it though, I just havent searched yet. Also I'm not sure how 10-8 feel on a Z but I want a stiff ride:).
