S30Z- A drift car build

i never brang myself up to make a build thread on HBZ because apparently slammed/lowered cars are looked down upon since it doesn't have correct "geometry". I thought it would be a good time to finally show my new shell and a little back story on how i got to where i am now. This is going to be my drift car simple, its going to look cool a fuu.............. and get the job done since I've always believed in "i want to drift and look cool as flip doing it". Its going to be low, wide and bright with styles that I like and dont care what you think. So without further ado lets see how I got to where I am now. (before posting this my work computer crashed and had alot more detail so prepare for the photo dumpage to compensate)

This was my first WHIP that I had which didnt change much from getting from a homie of mine aside from rebuilding da motor with new bearings/pistons/gaskets/mikunis/etc, yuta special awesomesauce coilovers and then a side of rear disk conversion plus a little purple spaz in the engine bay. Here you can see it through multiple phases from begining to end which ended in a three car pile up. It was only a week or two after the accident where along came a spider to fill in the Black Z's spot...

The last two pictures is how the Z currently looks but that will soon change within the next month or so. As of now the Z is waiting to wired for the

EZ Wire kit from a shop but the shop owner called me the other day and informed me that he will be selling the shop and wont be able to work on my Z which really really got my Bankai all over the place, in return though I asked if it would be alright if I can just use the shop to do the wiring since its already there and responded with a yes and no storage fee either. Problem is now for the month of October I work 10am-7pm and then 11-7am from tues-friday till the 28th in other words I virtually have no time to work on the Z since their closed on the weekends. I even have some 16x9.5's waiting to be put on the car but I want the car running before I get into that

So if anyone is in the San Francisco area or close by to give me a hand with the E-Z wire kit it would be much appreciated since its on a slim time frame and very little time to waste (even pay your for your time). Anyways this will be the place I will host my updates and if not here check Teamfeintheart.com is also where my updates will go along with some other random events like the monthly meets we host and Thunderdrift Pro-Am coverage in the bay area.

I've been following you in ratsun, saw the carnage and read about the re-shelling. It's been a really long rollercoaster for you. You're thread won't get kicked off here because you have a slammed car, it will more than likely get kicked off from bad grammer, text language and randomness. Ratsun is the place for that.

I'm not a nazi and don't care either way (I'm 22 and go on many stupid websites), I go to ratsun to read awesome asse builds like yours and PPK's, but hybridz is a really technical place, and it does set the bar as the technical forum for early Z's. Think of it as grade school Tball vs new york yankees (breaking bad reference).

You seriously have an awesome ride and hit some trouble spots, but it's coming together nicely.

I always got the "is your build on hbz" so i usually say no but now that I made this I'll probably be able to say "yes I do, look up blahblahblah". Yeah the unfortunate stops are always there no matter what car it may be or person at that, just my stop signs are alittle more constant than others hahah.

Well sorry for the delay i totally forgot about this thread but its time to bring it up to speed....along came a spider:

This dusty heep of datsun was tucked away in vacaville for a nice shiny penny i seen on craigslist a few days after my accident. I called a friend, picked up a dolley, and headed to pick the beast to replace my crunched metal stuffz.

The first night i had it i wanted the monster truck ride height to be done including my rear disk conversion, 15/16 bmc, ss lines front/back, And swap my wheels over. All went well so i got a few hours of sleep called up a few buddies and began swapping the motor over.

Got the motor in with slight problems since its really hard to line up a motor in the dark with only various "flashlight" apps everyone provided though somehow it got done.

It was then time to say goodbye to my old chassis and brainstorm on the next one. Before my accident I got some decent wheels that i couldn't pass up and figured it was time to revamp the wiring with a 12 circuit EZ Wire harness. Well problem was at the time i was working two full time jobs so i had no chance of working on my car (10am-7:30pm and then 11:00-7:30).

DSC_1856.jpg

So i asked a local shop to do the rest for me and just make it drivable so i can take over the rest. My car sat for about 2 weeks there then i received a call that the shop was closing down. So i asked if i can work on my car until the doors closed, got approved.*

So when i finally got settled into working one job I went on a spree... Got things like a Corbeau fx1, grip royal wheel, zx dizzy, zx alternator w/adjuster, msd blaster, racequip 5pt, and got tires mounted on my wheels which are SPINWERKS/CIRCLE RACING 16x9.5 w/ 205/55 in the front and 215/60 in the rears which are temporary tires until i burn them up at a skid pad where i can get 205/50's all around.

So yeah u would say Thats pretty much up to date..

P.s- ive been recylcing this post to just get my builds up to date

Well although I have not had a chance to work on my car as much as I like to, while changing jobs yet again in the coming weeks, I just dont have the motivation to stay out late and try to make the car run in a neighborhood who already complained about my car once before.

dsc_0420.jpg?w=637&h=426

Onto whats going on here. I got some T3 Bumpersteer spacers to slap on to get me motivated to work on the car again...and it worked.

dsc_0417.jpg?w=637&h=426

Then i remembered these car are old usually owned by some stupid someone. Well somehow they bent the hell outta my sway bar bolt which resulted in a cutting that shit in half. No pics but I got a matching Corbeau bracket for the FX1 and got a quick release. Seems my hub may be too long so a short hub will eventually be purchased but that can wait.

dsc_00121.jpg?w=637&h=426

After my electrical dilemma I have figured out my starter issue, new alternator, replaced the burnt wires, new ngk spark plugs, put in my gas pedal from my last car and got the motor to start but seems my timing is off yet again after the e12-80 was mounted. Other than that its just a matter of time and patience now.

dsc_04874.jpg?w=637&h=426

Other than my car stuff our Team Feint Heart group has an official logo working with Attackworks bringing them an idea I had then making into reality.

Then a friend named Marshall came by to lend a hand to see if he can see something i wasnt. Lately my car has not been wanting to start but everything checks out ignition, cam, and spark are all on point.

temporary_zps586723ab.jpgtemporary_zps867faca9.jpg

But after about hour he thught the samething i did....wtf, start already. Everything ignition related was working fine but a yellow spark made us wonder if the coil was took a poopoo. So we decided that it was possiblilty and marshall offered to grab his coil and dizzy to see if anything changes.

temporary_zpsbc115682.jpgtemporary_zpsb9fddfa4.jpg

Homie thomas came by in his Rocket S14 to come chill while i decided might aswell do my wheel studs.

temporary_zpsa3221c66.jpg

Marshall then arrived after picking up his Datsun from the shop from nail in a tire and down to wire fix. We then tried his dizzy and coil ending up with the same results, although i did take the fittings to carbs off and ran the fuel pump for a sec to see if any fuel was coming out. The fuel was coming out but barely enough so maybe a new lead, until next time peepz.

After taking a break from drifting, photography, and the girlfriend it was time to finally do something about the Z. After having a moment of weakness and putting it up for trade but it would only last a week. After going to the Datsun fun run it made me consider in keeping my Z, Marshall "stupid fast" mentioned awhile back that he had an L28 sitting so I figured why not..

temporary_zps29d01588.jpg

Taking out my L24 for later use, I got to work to prep the L28 in a night ........

After this sitting for months I figured it was time put this in since I had acces to a lift....makes for great skids, how do I know?

temporary_zpsf813a61a.jpg

Because within the two days I dedicated time to this I swapped out the engine to diff and got it running. Problem was my hesitation or flatlining was still present. Which finally narrowed it down to three things from the dizzy, coil or the fact I didn't have an FPR. Marshall came through for me with an spare e12-80 and finally I got to rev up the car and made a quick skid.

temporary_zpsa3221c66.jpg

Needa do some minor R&R to get it roadworthy but it's good to know I can go on small runs for the time being. Marshall (stupidfast) really came in for me! Now for moar low and get some dam progress!!
