Texas bumpers

Anyone know the Texas law on having bumpers?

I want to be rid of my giant crash bumpers but we have safety inspections every two or three years.

Z-Store has 240Z fiberglass, (which would be nice). I'm just looking to see what experiences my Texas brothers and sisters have had.

IME, it depended wildly on the city and inspection station. More than the NJ safety inspection though! That was canned since they can't balance a budget here. Anyway, they really just checked lights, horn and if it stopped well enough. Tires, bumpers and other stuff never came in to question (despite there being requirements) when I was in DFW. Then again my car looked clean and the tires were new.

I put the MSA Areo fiberglass body it on my car back in 1997 in Arlington, TX and drove it nearly 100,000 miles that way until I left in 2006. Never once got stopped or had an issue at a safety inspection. I didn't even run a license plate on the front.

Haven't had bumpers on my car for 10 years.. (5 with it actually on the road) Always planned on 240z front bumper though. Never had a problem with police or inspection.

Inspection doesn't check for bumpers, just lights, parking brake, horn, wipers and brake check.
